Hey, how’s it going? Pretty much just a normal week over here. And it’s Wednesday, so we’ve got a new IPA for you - same as it ever was. That’s not the name but it should’ve been….fuck we missed that one.

This new IPA is named A Drop in the Ocean. Imagine being so powerful that one action can make a major impact. In a sea of similarity, the slightest of deviations ends up going such a long way, that it changes the very flavor of the sea. And everything is forever changed from then on.

Take Riwaka hops from New Zealand for example. Uh yeah, we were talking about hops. We only used a little bit in the beer, like 8% of total weight, and the rest of the entire hop bill was a few of our favorite lots of Citra. So this beer is 92% Citra hops. AND, you can still taste the Riwaka. Yes, it’s all yellow peach and tangerine and apricot and papaya….but that distinct little zhuzh of asphalt and beachgrass is there. Because Riwaka is an impressive force of nature. And that’s all we have to say about that.

We woke up much too early this Sunday with a jolt of anxiety - we forgot to do something yesterday. Actually, a few things. One of which was to tell you about our freshest lager, a New Zealand style Keller Pils called Rolling Hills.

This pretty little pils is a scenic drive through winding roads with all the views - coastlines and mountains and farmland and forest. We used a blend of Peacharine (mostly), Nelson (a little bit), and Riwaka (just a touch) that resulted in notes of wild flowers, native grasses, passion fruit, honeysuckle, and pear. And it’s all wrapped up in a soft, dry, slightly hazy package.

Ok cool so now that we’ve remedied one of yesterday’s tasks, it’s back to Sunday snoozing.K THX BYE.

WEDNESDAY MEANS NEW IPA DAY!

Every winter, we get a little, um, antsy? as we wait for that invitation to show up in our email. Which invitation? THE invitation. The big one. The BEST beer festival in the world. The @firestonewalker Invitational Beer Festival.

You won’t find a better line-up of breweries and beers anywhere else. Tickets sell out in minutes, year after year. It’s a bucket list for brewers AND for drinkers. And we’re honored to be a part of it again - our fifth go! And we made an IPA just for it!

California Waiting IPA is loaded with our favorite lots of Citra and Mosaic, along with some Waimea from New Zealand, and some Fresh Waimea Cold Pressed Hop Kief from @freestylehops to take it to the next level. Every little thing’s gotta be just right…and it is. It’s soft but dry, with quenching bitterness on the back end, and notes of tangerine, white grapefruit, and passionfruit for a classic PNW Hazy-type experience most of you are familiar with.

LOOK HOW THEY SHINE IPA IS BACK TODAY AFTER A 5+ YEAR HIATUS?!

In the early ‘00s, @virgil_gamache_farms released an exciting new IPA hop now known as @amarillohops

The rarely seen press release was odd, but catchy: “Look at the hops, look how they shine for you. And everything you brew. Yeah they are Amarillo. I came along. I grew a hop for you. And all the things you brew. They are named after Yellow.”

Coldplay THEN stole the press release and turned it into a multiple platinum hit single and the rest is history. Irregardless (this is now a word), we still remember when Amarillo was the IT hop, long before Strata, Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, Krush, etc. So we built a modern IPA with 2 Row, Pils, Wheat & Oats around some beautiful Amarillo lots from @royfarms_hops @lozafarms @goodingfarms and @crosbyhops . We sprinkled in a little Citra & Chinook to round it out - but this beer is all about Amarillo, and that juicy, bright citrus hop character.

Oh yeah, your pith and nose, turned into something beautiful. For you, we’d brew ourselves dry. Because we’re hardcore softcore like that.

WHO’S READY TO CATCH BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET IPA TODAY?!? WE ARE!!!!

Let’s set the stage. You’ve spent all your disposable income and paid vacation time just to get to this farm wedding in the middle of nowhere. It took like 2 flights, 1 bus, and a taxi to get there, and you’re exhausted - but the setting is amazing. It’s screaming rustic-chic all over the place, from mason jars to string lights to some live Americana music all set in an old barn surrounded by old growth trees. And then you see it - the hop bouquet.

Simcoe is all ruby red grapefruit sprinkled with pine needles. Strata is all strawberry and purple kush. Cascade is preserved lemon and fresh cut flowers.

At this point, you’ve sat through 6 speeches, 2 dances, countless “candid” photos, and the cutting of a cake that@inagarten definitely baked herself. Finally, the time comes to get your nose into this Beautiful Bouquet. As bride turns around and throws the hop flowers over their head, your future flashes in front of your eyes. In that moment, you’ve never wanted anything more. In your face. And in your beer. Let the elbow throwing mayhem begin. GIVE ME THAT FUCKING BOUQUET. (Ps - feel free to order it this way.)
