The Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) allows businesses and individuals to voluntarily compensate for their carbon emissions or contribute to climate goals by purchasing and retiring carbon credits.

In the spring of 2024, Climeworks launched its second commercial DAC+S plant, Mammoth. Parallel to the plant installation, a new Visitor Centre was opened at the Mammoth facility to educate visitors on the carbon capture process.
Gagarin designed and installed an engaging model representing Mammoth. Via tangible knobs, visitors can trigger in-depth information on the different modules within the plant and how they function in the carbon capture process. We used birch and concrete-like materials (@valchromat_official )to match the architecture of the Visitor Centre. The design is minimalistic and contemporary, fitting seamlessly into the overall aesthetic of the space.

Why not just suck out greenhouse gases with a giant vacuum cleaner?

🌍🔥 The “world’s largest” plant designed to take inplanet-heating pollution out of the atmosphere has begun operating in Iceland.

“Mammoth” is the second commercial direct air capture plant opened by Swiss company Climeworks in the country.

They’re called direct air capture plants, and they suck in air and strip out the carbon using chemicals.

The carbon can then be injected deep beneath the ground, reused or transformed into solid products.

So could we use something like this in the UAE?

Louise Mathias,Director Policy & Government Affairs at Climeworks Media - the Swiss company that operates the machines, explained to Georgia Tolley on The Agenda how the technology could work in the UAE.
