A waterfall of recycled bottle caps flows down Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall (@tate) – the final act in El Anatsui’s (@elanatsui.art) Hyundai Commission: Behind the Red Moon (@hyundai.artlab). Filling the space from entrance to back wall, this is his most epic work and installation to date. It’s an exhibition in three acts, suggesting a sailing ship with elements of wind, water, and the cosmos. While the exhibition text provides an anchor for interpretation, he ultimately takes you on a journey across a vast ocean of history and ideas. Down the ramp and up the bridge, multiple vantage points provide so many ways of seeing and experiencing. And just as you turn the corner in this final section, this final act (shown here), you turn back around and wonder whether the journey has ended or whether it has really just begun.

With the passing of Park Seo-bo (@parkseobo), I find new meaning and poetry from this studio visit from several years ago. He spoke at length about this idea of emptying oneself through the labor of creating work, the repetition you see here. His energy being released into the paint, or literally scraped into it. Maybe he is still going at it, somewhere in the sky above us. Or maybe he left us at the moment he achieved the pure emptiness he sought. Like that final scene in Inception, we are left to wonder.
RIP

Acupuncture on a building in Venice!
Step inside the Korean Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale (@labiennale) to discover the work of Choi Goen (@dionisox). In “Liberation Space: Fortress and Nest”, the exhibition reconsiders what “liberation” means today, while recalling its historical weight. Within this framework, Goen’s work engages directly with the architecture, opening up the space and reshaping how it is seen and experienced. Split metal pipes puncture through the rooftop, curving in and around. Light pierces through the windows, reflecting yet another dimension of the work as it bounces off its glistening surface. As a visitor, you're wrapped by these pipes from all directions, as if hugged to heal by her art - just as acupuncture releases the stresses from the building.
Her connection with Bvlgari (@bvlgari) began with the Frieze Seoul Artist Award, where the brand has supported new commissions by Korean artists since 2023. What started as a platform for new work now extends to Venice, where Bvlgari supported Choi Goen's participation in this year’s pavilion.
This coincides with Bvlgari's new role as Exclusive Partner of the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 editions.

Since the mid-1980s, Lorna Simpson (@lornasimpson) has been asking how images are made — and who gets left out. Now her most significant European show in over a decade is on view in Venice at Punta della Dogana (@palazzo_grassi). Nearly fifty works: paintings, collage, sculpture, film. Twenty years of her practice, all in one place.
The show moves through three worlds: figures caught in political upheaval, Arctic landscapes that feel like they’re dissolving, and portraits of women that refuse easy reading. Memory, erasure, who gets to be seen. It’s a show that highlights the questions she’s always been asking.
“Lorna Simpson. Third Person” is organized in partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art (@metmuseum) and supported by Bottega Veneta (@newbottega). Thanks as always to Emma Lavigne (@emmalavigne_), General Director and Curator of the Pinault Collection, for the tour!

This was my first time back in Busan in five years. And it became a mad dash to squeeze in art across the city. Here’s our short guide to experience art during Busan Art Week.
We take you from Space Lee Ufan at the Busan Museum of Art (@busanmuseumofart) to BEXCO for the 15th edition of ART BUSAN (@artbusan). Our journey then took us to MOMOS Coffee (@momoscoffee_official) for a slower moment with award-winning coffee. Then hopping over to Kukje Gallery (@kukjegallery) for their current show of Hong Seung-Hye. Located at F1963—a former wire factory turned cultural complex—it’s where industrial history meets contemporary art. Lastly, we made our way to Ochoryang (@ochoryang). A 1925 wooden house and Registered Cultural Property. A quiet retreat from a day of seeing art.

ART BUSAN 2026 (@artbusan) returns for its 15th edition, continuing to evolve beyond a traditional art fair into a more curated and globally connected platform.
This year introduces new sections like LIGHTHAUS, DEFINE, CONNECT, and FUTURE, expanding how art is presented and experienced.
With that in mind, here are three ways I enjoy the fair. First, discover new artists. Second, catch up with friends. Third, take it slow. For more, don’t miss the tips in the video—including one from my friend Janguk (@janguklee.art), who is year’s artistic director.

Chiharu Shiota’s (@chiharushiota) signature red threads fall like rain around suspended dresses at M+ (@mplusmuseum). For the artist, these objects act as a second skin. They carry memory, experience, and identity. They connect personal history and shared ideas. And the color red speaks to blood, life, and the invisible thread that binds one person to another.
Special thanks to Russell Storer, Senior Curator and Head of Curatorial Affairs of M+, for the tour!

Now open at White Cube Seoul, Takis (@takisfoundation) and Nam June Paik are brought together in a presentation that reflects their collaboration and shared interest in music, John Cage and Zen.
Across the exhibition, sculpture, sound and moving image intersect: works vibrate through magnetism, signals distort, and systems of transmission are set into motion. For both artists, technology operates not as a tool of control, but as a means of generating unpredictable outcomes.
Referencing their 1979 performance ‘Duett,’ in which sound and movement converged, this exhibition revisits this dialogue in a new context. Ikenna Malbert (@ikenna_malbert), Associate Director, leads us through a walkthrough of the exhibition.

This is Stephen Lichty’s (@stephenlichty) studio in San Francisco. At the entrance, quartz boulders sit on tables after being excavated, splashed by the sunlight and massaged by water. In one corner, window panes lean against the wall, getting readied for pine rosin to be melted over them, filling the room with the subtlest fresh scent. And in other corners of the room, the tools of the artist’s trade, neatly organized, paralleling the scientific foundation of his work.
It started with a single boulder — one Lichty came across while doing stone masonry work in the Bay Area. He followed it to its origin: an old mine in the Sierra Nevada foothills, on land that was gutted by Gold Rush-era hydraulic mining before becoming protected National Forest. The same destructive forces that tore through that hillside are what pushed these stones to the surface in the first place. That tension between damage and discovery sits at the heart of his first show with YveYANG (@yveyanggallery).

Our first stop at the 2026 Venice Biennale (@labiennale): Nigel Cooke’s (@nigelcookestudio) “Bad Habits” at Fondazione Querini Stampalia (@fondazionequerinistampalia).
Once a 16th-century residence, now a museum and library, the space mirrors the exhibition—layered with different times and histories. For Nigel, painting is a process of decision-making: what to keep, what to erase. It begins with the personal, but points to something larger—the repetition of history, and the return of choices we thought were behind us.
Forms cluster across the canvas, yet feel pushed to the edges. He describes them as small societies, shaped as much by exclusion as by connection. Nigel calls Venice a “floating museum.” His paintings work in a similar way: layered, unstable, and never fully resolved.
