Dimitris Chimonas ( @dimitrischimonas ) is an artist and theatre maker whose practice explores the intersection of choreography, performance, and social situations. Moving between the stage, the gallery and the dance floor, Chimonas investigates how collective agency and spectatorship are negotiated through humor and play. He is a co-founder of @sesssssions a queer platform for performance in Cyprus that transforms institutional spaces into porous sites for experimentation. A graduate of East15 Acting School and a fellow of Ashkal Alwan, he is currently an MA candidate in Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute.

As part of the TiSp residency, Dimitris is embarking on a slow-travel journey from Brussels to Cyprus (with a stop in Athens hosted in Communitism) via trains, buses, and boats, drawing a deliberate line from North to South to explore shifting cultural and postcolonial landscapes.

Throughout his stay in Athens (8/5–31/5), we will host a shared welcoming gathering for Dimitris on May 8th at 21:00 in our new building in Metaxourgeio. He will also culminate his residency with a series of nighttime workshops from May 28th to 30th. These sessions will focus on the "minor bodies" of the metropolis—drifters, queers, and workers of the night—exploring how these figures of the periphery can be staged through noise, mystery, and collective witnessing.

🌛🩷 Tom's first time in the building 🌱✨

✨ Are you wondering how an abandoned heritage building can transform into an active space of creativity, collaboration and care? Join a night dedicated to all of us who dream of cities who care for their people.

🌀 “The Prototype” is a documentary about reclaiming space, building community, and imagining a different kind of city. Following the story of @Communitism and the collective activation of a neoclassical building in Kerameikos, the film explores how underused heritage buildings can become sites of cultural production, care, and connection.
Shot during the final month in Kerameikou 28 in March 2023, and including past audiovisual material, The Prototype is both a record of what happened and an invitation to what’s possible.

Ταπισερί νεοκλασικών - Εργαστήριο συρραφής υφαντού
Εικόνες νεοκλασικών αποτυπωμένες σε ύφασμα και νήματα μετατρέπονται σε ένα συλλογικό υφαντό έργο, εμπνευσμένο από την έρευνα του πρότζεκτ και την αρχιτεκτονική της περιοχής.
Ο Άγγελος Τορτικωλης είναι visual artist που ασχολείται με υφάσματα, κλωστές και επαναχρηση υλικών. Στο εργαστήριο που θα ηγηθεί θα εμπνευστούμε από τις ιστορίες του Μεταξουργείου και θα φτιάξουμε ένα patchwork απο κτίρια αποτυπωμένα σε ύφασμα με λέξεις και φράσεις κεντημένες με διάφορες τεχνικές.

Το εργαστήριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Kookooli by Communitism, Κατερίνης 10, Βοτανικός.

Ο Στρατής Βογιατζής γεννήθηκε το 1978 στη Χίο και ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα. Ασχολείται με την ανθρωπολογία, τον κινηματογράφο, τη φωτογραφία και τη συγγραφή. Το έργο του συνδέεται στενά με τον μετα-ανθρωπιστικό ή μετα-ανθρωποκεντρικό λόγο, ενώ στο επίκεντρο της πρακτικής του βρίσκεται η πολυφωνία και οι συνεργατικές μορφές εργασίας.

Μια βόλτα στο πάρκο - Εργαστήριο συλλογικής τοιχογραφίας

Πώς βιώνουμε το χρώμα μέσα σε μια αθηναϊκή γειτονιά; Πώς προσαρμόζεται το βλέμμα του σύγχρονου κατοίκου του Μεταξουργείου, μιας περιοχής με μεγάλη έλλειψη πρασίνου όπου απουσιάζουν ακόμα και τα πάρκα; Αν τα δέντρα μιας πλατείας είναι η ελάχιστη αναπαράσταση της φύσης κι η τέχνη η αναπαράσταση της ίδιας της ζωής, τι δημόσια τέχνη οφείλουμε; Με την καθοδήγηση της εικαστικού Γρηγορίας Βρυττιά, θα δημιουργηθεί μια συλλογική, βιωματική τοιχογραφία με φυτικά μοτίβα, που θα επιχειρήσει να φέρει το χρώμα και την αίσθηση του κήπου στους τοίχους της πόλης.

🎨Δεν απαιτείται εμπειρία στην τοιχογραφία, μόνο βασική αντίληψη σχεδίου και πρόχειρα ρούχα. Θα λερωθούμε!

🎨H Γρηγορία Βρυττιά είναι σύγχρονη Ελληνίδα εικαστικός με σπουδες στην σχολή Καλών Τεχνών του Α.Π.Θ. και στο Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts, London. Η εικαστική της παραγωγή περιλαμβάνει μαλακά γλυπτά, πειραματισμούς με υφάσματα, found objects, σχέδια, πρωτότυπα βιβλία και ζωγραφική. Μέσα από την τέχνη της δημιουργεί ένα φανταστικό σύμπαν με γραμμικά στοιχεία, pop ατμόσφαιρα, έντονα χρώματα και ανατροπές στο περιεχόμενο.
Το εργαστήριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Δημόσιο Σήμα, Λεωνίδου & Πλαταιών, Μεταξουργείο.

Πώς βιώνουμε το χρώμα μέσα σε μια αθηναϊκή γειτονιά; Πώς προσαρμόζεται το βλέμμα του σύγχρονου κατοίκου του Μεταξουργείου, μιας περιοχής με μεγάλη έλλειψη πρασίνου όπου απουσιάζουν ακόμα και τα πάρκα; Αν τα δέντρα μιας πλατείας είναι η ελάχιστη αναπαράσταση της φύσης κι η τέχνη η αναπαράσταση της ίδιας της ζωής, τι δημόσια τέχνη οφείλουμε; Με την καθοδήγηση της εικαστικού Γρηγορίας Βρυττιά, θα δημιουργηθεί μια συλλογική, βιωματική τοιχογραφία με φυτικά μοτίβα, που θα επιχειρήσει να φέρει το χρώμα και την αίσθηση του κήπου στους τοίχους της πόλης.

🎨Δεν απαιτείται εμπειρία στην τοιχογραφία, μόνο βασική αντίληψη σχεδίου και πρόχειρα ρούχα. Θα λερωθούμε!

🎨H Γρηγορία Βρυττιά είναι σύγχρονη Ελληνίδα εικαστικός με σπουδες στην σχολή Καλών Τεχνών του Α.Π.Θ. και στο Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts, London. Η εικαστική της παραγωγή περιλαμβάνει μαλακά γλυπτά, πειραματισμούς με υφάσματα, found objects, σχέδια, πρωτότυπα βιβλία και ζωγραφική. Μέσα από την τέχνη της δημιουργεί ένα φανταστικό σύμπαν με γραμμικά στοιχεία, pop ατμόσφαιρα, έντονα χρώματα και ανατροπές στο περιεχόμενο.
Το εργαστήριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Δημόσιο Σήμα, Λεωνίδου & Πλαταιών, Μεταξουργείο.

✨ Are you wondering how an abandoned heritage building can transform into an active space of creativity, collaboration and care? Join a night dedicated to all of us who dream of cities who care for their people.

🌀 “The Prototype” is a documentary about reclaiming space, building community, and imagining a different kind of city. Following the story of @Communitism and the collective activation of a neoclassical building in Kerameikos, the film explores how underused heritage buildings can become sites of cultural production, care, and connection.
Shot during the final month in Kerameikou 28 in March 2023, and including past audiovisual material, The Prototype is both a record of what happened and an invitation to what’s possible.

Σε μια συλλογική εξερεύνηση του Μεταξουργείου μέσα από τις άυλες ιστορίες του (λέξεις, λογοτεχνικά αποσπάσματα, αρχειακά ίχνη και μαρτυρίες) θα δημιουργήσουμε, με συλλογικές αφηγηματικές διαδικασίες και ακουστικό πειραματισμό, ένα μικρό ηχητικό ντοκιμαντέρ / podcast. Μέσα από βιωματικές εμπειρίες, αναγνώσεις και παρατήρηση, θα επιχειρήσουμε να αφηγηθούμε τον τόπο και τις μνήμες του με συμμετοχικό τρόπο.

Οι Polis Spinners είναι μια διεπιστημονική ομάδα που δημιουργεί κοινότητα μέσα από πολλαπλές αφηγήσεις για την πόλη, με έμφαση στην επικοινωνία της επιστήμης της πόλης. Γεννήθηκε από μια αρχιτεκτόνισσα και μια πολεοδόμο, με κοινό όραμα συμπεριληπτικούς και ζωντανούς αστικούς τόπους. Συνεργάζονται με τη Ναυσικά Στεφανίδου, αρχαιολόγο και πολιτιστική διαχειρίστρια, η οποία υλοποιεί βιωματικές δράσεις πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και ερευνά τη μνήμη του αστικού χώρου και το ηχοτοπίο.

Το εργαστήριο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Kookooli by Communitism, Κατερίνης 10, Βοτανικός.
