We’d first like to send our heartfelt Aloha to Kai’s wife Kea, their beautiful children and the entire Bartlett ‘Ohana.

Kai Bartlett was one of, if not, the greatest to ever do it. His endless list of competitive titles, records, paddling techniques and innovative, high performance watercraft will live on thanks to the perpetuity of social media and his @kaiwaacanoes brand.

…But what was irreplaceably lost, and what we will miss most is his physical presence. We will miss Kai - the amazing Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Friend and source of inspiration to us all. We will miss his humor, his fight, his willingness to help others first, and especially the ever-present Aloha he radiated that made everyone around him feel welcomed and special.

Kai, it’s impossible to summarize in a caption, how grateful we are to you and for all you’ve done for us over the years. So we won’t. Instead, we’ll look longingly to the day we can tell you… when we finally meet again. In the meantime, we hope you’re getting some well deserved rest before hopping back into the seat and continuing to paddle in paradise. Mahalo and a hui hou Kai.
