“Last Dance With Mary Jane” is in competition at @annecyfestival this year in the Commissioned Film category !

Developed at the intersection of live action, animation, craft and generative tools, the film took shape through continuous friction between teams and techniques. Each layer was pushed, reworked, and reassembled until a coherent visual and narrative language emerged.

Grateful to everyone involved, and to Annecy for the trust. It’s been great to see the film pick up recognition along the way and continue to find its audience 🫶🏼

We get to witness the behind-the-scenes magic: a small seed transforming into the Tree of Nature. Fruits, flowers, clouds, insects, an entire ecosystem working in harmony. Ordinary nature doing extraordinary work.

That’s the story we wanted to bring to screen. Behind every bottle, thousands of tiny, precise miracles. One seed, transformed into something powerful enough to support life.

To build that world, we combined handcrafted photo and video collage, keeping the texture raw and authentic, with immersive 3D camera moves to add depth and presence. Playing with scale and layering to turn a flat illustration into a functional, living environment.

Real and metaphorical at the same time, a way to show how vibrant the natural world is and the energy it carries.

Once a symbol of confinement, the « room » becomes the infinite horizon. A space where women define their own paths, their own voices, and their own futures.

On this International Women’s Day, we honor the daughters of the witches who couldn’t be burned, and every woman carving out a life that refuses to be contained.

But celebration alone is not enough. Across the world, equality, safety, recognition, and representation remain unfinished work. The future still needs to be built and defended ✊🏼
