Yikes this waterfall wing stump was a real feat in bringing a vision to life. Batch glazing small pieces (essentially ceramic beads) is a pretty nerve-wracking process.

I’d run some test beads through a previous bisque firing with the glaze applied directly to the unfired clay, and they didn’t turn out. So I was crossing everything that the glaze firing would work out, with the alternative being remaking and repainting hundreds of beads. My poor, arthritic hands would not have approved.

Long story short: the glazes worked!

Since I was making so many beads, I also had to build a whole set of new bead trays. The logistics of eventually getting everything onto wire was another nerve-wracking step, especially because there wasn’t room to make extras - no margin for breakages or mistakes.

Living on the edge!

Final work to come 🔵🔹🌀✨🟦💧⛲️🪽

My next wing stump sketch! This one is based on my painting Perpetual Cascade, which I don’t think I’ve ever shared in full.

While Perpetual Cascade is currently touring Queensland (with the QRAA exhibition), it’s getting a a new 3D form back at home :)

I’m always trying to capture and convey the living presence of the natural world, and I assume most people feel drawn to falling water, especially when it gathers into one powerful force and cascades over rocks. Waterfalls become an easy gateway into the awe that the natural world gifts us 💧⛲️🏞️🌈🦋🪽

💞 Next Monday (April 4th) Namba is full of goodness as part of @horizonartfest

9 am–3 pm: @badhabitrecordsandcollectables markets inside the @oldambulancestation

2–3 pm: Street art tour with @humble_dumpling (leaving from the old Ambo)

Then we head back to the Old Ambo with live music from @leehardisty

+ you can check out Vendoza (the art vending machine and keeper of this zine* + necklace)

3:30 pm onwards, it’s an afternoon of poetry (I’m part of the line-up) and music goodness (I’m also doing two of my collabs with Elijah)

YAY and it’s all FREE!

*This zine was specifically made for Vendoza, it’s months of snippets of convo I had with two of my favourite trees and leans into the sweetness and guidance from them.

The poems I’ll be reading on the day continue that nature-soaked vibe :) It’s going to be chill & fun! 💞

✨🪾🥚🦢🦋🪽✨Sketch of my next wing stump!

I’m cautious to overexplain this one, but essentially, I’m staying true to the six planes vision, some direct reference to the golden teachers, and some more obtuse references. Lots of ceramics, plywood, and wood.

Excited to share the finished work! 😁

🌸🌼🥀🪻Panel 4, done and dusted!

(It was actually finished back in January but sometimes there’s a gap between making and sharing :P relatable?)

Huge thanks to Ben for helping me bring this photoshoot to life. I had a vision of wearing the panel like a blanket, inspired by the Caloundra Gallery display for the Wildflowering by Design exhibition.

Also, Ben literally climbed a tree to get the shot (pic 2).

We wrapped up the shoot with a swim at Wappa Falls which was absolute perfection after melting internally and externally.

Panel 5 is already about 70–80% done. It’s going to be surreal when I begin the 6th and final panel! 🌸🌼🥀🪻

I’ve been obsessively thinking about six planes, trees, and angels for a while now, but it’s really ramped up over the past few months. This is my way of translating those thoughts into sculpture.

All of my work builds on what’s come before. Revisiting my Path project, work from last year’s Liminal show, The Keeper Project, and Floating Land.

I’m back to playing with ply offcuts, sawing wood (my fav) and high contrast and bright colour.

This piece is rooted in the personal, but the aim is always universal enjoyment and a choose-your-own-adventure interpretation.I’ve got another 5 different versions of this sculpture in my brain, so we’ll see how far the drive goes.

When people ask me what I’m making or even how I spend my time, this reel is a good explainer. I started Flower Shelter at the end of 2023, I’m about 60% finished, which means potentially in the next year or two it will be completed.

I thrift my fabrics (or in the case was gifted by the lovely Ket!), I wash and then starch the fabric. Once the fabric has been pulled taut and dried, it will be cut into flowers and stamens, ready to be sewn together. Once completed, each flower is thrown into a colour coordinated box. The final process is to sew the completed flowers onto panels (6 in total and I’m up to number 4) which will eventually form the installation.

I try and make flowers everyday ✌️🌸👍🌻😁

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Here’s my 2026 manifesto. Most of it (if not all) has come directly from trees.
I’ll also forever link acceptance with my friend @silverwizard_art ! So big loving shout out to both!
If there’s one resolution I hope to keep, it is to spend time in nature ✨🍃🌳🍁🌾✨

MERRY CHRISTMAS! ☃️

Shout out to the Fruity Life skip bin for our cardboard, our Cadagi tree for our snowman arms, Joopy for not running away, our drop sheets, and the vacant block in Namba with a convenient white wall. Biggest shout-out to @humble_dumpling for doing this with me every year. We always leave it to the last minute, and it is always very awkward, especially this year, shooting on a main road.

I hope there’s still room to be silly in your life, and there’s at least one soul that’s close to you, to navigate it with. 🤍
