This year’s tribute hits differently because back in 1995 I was the older child in my family - the 5th grader about to finish elementary school and move on to middle school when my family life changed forever - and now my older child is in 5th grade… except now I’m the parent. Today marks a complete generation gone by since my mom died 31 years ago, April 27, 1995.The next 31 years I spent trying to heal my heart after this devastating loss. Yet today I stand proud, as the dad of two incredible girls, ages 11 and 7. The best I can do is to raise them in my mom’s resonating spirit and hope for an easier childhood experience for them.
Similarly to what I wrote last year, I cannot believe 31 years have passed and I’m now older than she was when she died. Mom, continue to rest in the sweetest peace and with all the love everyone in your life had for you. 💔
