Original meaning:

A trust fall is an activity in which a person deliberately falls, trusting the members of a group (spotters) to catch them. It has also at times been considered a popular team-building exercise in corporate training events.

My feeling is that our daily interpersonal communications are also like a Trust Fall. When we throw out a new topic, we don’t know whether the others will accept our points of view. Just like when we fall with our backs to the crowd, we can’t confirm whether the others will really catch us. No matter how familiar a friend or a relative is, because another person has their own mind, we face the possibility of a rupture caused by the two people’s thoughts conflicting. I want to use Trust Fall as a metaphor to describe the complex trust issues inherent in interpersonal communication.
