Hey, friends. If you have a second, I'd love to get your opinion. As I posted recently, I'm getting close to the completion of my first novel! Currently, I'm going against all the conventional wisdom and taking a crack at designing my own cover. Granted, these are just a starting point. Font is definitely changing, and even the artwork is still in flux. But I'm currently focusing on color scheme preference for the moment.
Here's what I'd love from you: Imagine for a moment that you're standing in the "Horror" section of your local bookstore (sure, browsing on Amazon is also acceptable, it's your imagination). If you're a fan of the Horror genre, that's great. If you're not, maybe you became lost in the aisles while attempting to find the "Werewolves Who Are Also Firefighters Romance" section.
Regardless, here you are. Now, facing a shelf filled with other books, which of these two covers would you be more likely to reach out and pick up to give the back a read to see what it's all about?
