I love my caps and hats, fashionably, yet metaphorically have never rested my hat on any accomplishments whatsoever…therein lies an interesting investigation of self:
1) is my sense of accomplishment insatiable?
2) do I think I’m undeserving of celebration and cheer?
3) am I already satisfied in life as is, and the exterior or outward expression of “art-making” is just accoutrements to the main dish, which is just being blessed and dope af as a human, hubby and dad?

— in my past life as a hip hop artist…I commanded stages, mics and crowds.

this clip is from October 31, 2002 at Broadway Joes, Halloween edition. Trev and I (Raw Intel)decided weeks ago that we would dress as RUN DMC for the show. the night before the show, Oct. 30, while rehearsing at DJ Lo Pro’s apartment, we were stunned to see the news across the tv screen that our hero, JMJ was taken away in a senseless act. so the following evening was kismet yet sad and heavy for the hip hop community…this is just a clip of me and Trev over a beat he had just cooked up and presented for the first time on stage.

recovered some artifacts from Hi-8 tapes, recently digitized. to my delight, there are so many of our life’s memories resurfacing in video.

the recaps are only for posterity and documentation, never to recreate the scene or vibe, for that exists only in the moment for whomever is in attendance. it’s a cherished moment, even sacred, if we may say.
