Here we go, the next edition to the MIKRO WRX catalogue.
There’s so much history to these tracks. @derangedtechno and I have been close friends since we first linked up in London about 4 years ago now. Around the time when I was working in Bankstock studios (SAE Institutes studios), after a while, I convinced Deranged to go for it and come study audio at SAE, and once he realised all the written academic work involved, he has held bitter resentment towards me ever since! All jokes aside, we have since been collaborating, and even room mates and we made an effort whenever we could to produce music together. But in the heat of the moment, we kept deciding that the best course of action would be to start new tracks before finishing the ones we had started. It literally took years to finish the tracks! Until we learned after 3 years that we had to finish the tracks straight away or the consequences would be significant.
When we met up again this New Year of 2024, we decided to look through our old projects and finish as much as we could. We were utterly surprised hearing “The Plot Twist” as it was about 2 years old and “The Bewildered” about 8 months old. I thought the vibe would fit perfectly on MIKRO WRX, so those two collab tracks and an original each would make a great release. So super happy to finally be putting this out: “The Plot Twist EP”

Subsurface Vol. 1 marks the first various artists compilation on Aesir Records, presenting a focused selection of forward-thinking underground productions from Dani Durán (ES), Deranged, FALN, Inez Akker, Obseth, and Persohna.

The release establishes the label’s intent to explore restrained, atmospheric, and rhythm-driven interpretations of contemporary techno and adjacent forms.

Across the compilation, each contributor approaches the framework of the underground with a distinct perspective. The result is a cohesive yet varied listening experience, built around tension, reduction, and textured sound design rather than overt narrative or maximal arrangements.

The record leans into a stripped aesthetic where space and precision carry as much weight as percussion and low-end pressure. Rather than relying on peak-time conventions, Subsurface Vol. 1 positions itself in a more controlled environment—focused on depth, detail, and sound system functionality.

Long term collaborators, friends and Elata Collective residents Deranged and James first appeared together on our Gars of Gars compilation and now return with their first joint statement for the label: Gars Split EP #1. Two artists from the same universe - one from Lithuania and one from the UK - connected through sound, trust, and a shared taste for hypnotic groove. This release is made for the Gars x R-Ūkas occasion - a special one: limited, intimate, and meant to be experienced inside the right room.

Long term collaborators, friends and Elata Collective residents Deranged and James first appeared together on our Gars of Gars compilation and now return with their first joint statement for the label: Gars Split EP #1. Two artists from the same universe - one from Lithuania and one from the UK - connected through sound, trust, and a shared taste for hypnotic groove. This release is made for the Gars x R-Ūkas occasion - a special one: limited, intimate, and meant to be experienced inside the right room.

For this release, we’re proud to present Deranged,
a Lithuanian-born, London-based techno DJ and producer known for his rolling basslines, hypnotic rhythms, and groove-driven minimalism.
In 2018, he moved to London to pursue his artistic vision, quickly embedding himself in the city’s underground scene and performing at a range of venues and raves across the capital.
In 2020, he founded @insignia.london —a crew focused on pushing the hypnotic, groove-heavy side of techno through warehouse and open-air forest raves. The collective aimed to counter the rising trend of hard techno and spotlight a deeper, more rhythmic sound that was largely overlooked in London at the time, bringing a fresh dynamic to the city’s soundscape.
In 2024, he became the first resident of the emerging @elata_collective a rapidly growing community making its mark on the capital’s underground circuit.
Deranged’s sets and productions are defined by a relentless groove, stripped-back yet powerful percussion, and an immersive, trance-inducing energy.
He has released on labels like PRTL WRX, Aesir, Duplicity, Laburnūm and Canticle Records - earning support from respected names.
