🚨 PLAYLAND: A Queer Affair Pride Edition 🚨

Our next Playland will be a real celebration of queer creativity on several fronts, starting with The Sissies of Mercy as our special guest DJs! Anyone who knows resident DJ Brian Halligan knows he's been singing their praises for a while now, and that this has been a long time dream to have them at ManRay & he's thrilled to be on opening duties for them.

The duo have Massachusetts roots, having gone to Massachusetts College of Art and Design before their move to Brooklyn where they DJ regularly at landmark parties and venues like Gabriela, House of Yes and Good Room among others.

Flier by our own super talented @mxdemeanor using an image of the notorious, iconic Boston drag performer Sylvia Sidney with the kind permission of reknowned photographer Jason Byron Gavann, who will also be featured in a show of his photographs in the Pup Lounge from his portfolio "Mr. sister queer, queer warriors, pussy pirates and drag kings" and whose incredible body of work documenting early Boston's queer nightlife has been recently rediscovered and celebrated by gallerists and curators nationwide.

We will have the one and only @divann.i on the pole, and a cast of gogo dancers from our own community of hotties throughout the night 🔥


With Steve, Haley, Lindsey, on the upstairs bars, Cub Rye slinging drinks in the Pup Lounge. 🍸

This will surely be the Pride event of the season, and we will not be selling advance tickets, so get there early!

The amount of support you've given Playland over these last 4 months has been overwhelming and I can only say thank you for continuing to support local DJ residencies both here and elsewhere, nightlife is in a very precarious position these days but the energy on those Fridays has been nothing short of healing for our hearts.

I again have to thank Cheryl and ManRay for providing a space like no other in the city to do this.

You know the story by now, Steve, Haley and Lindsey on the upstairs bars, Joel in the Pup Lounge, gogo dancers, pole dancers, and if you were at the last one, another shout out to @ladaune_lehause for her incredible pop up performance of kd lang's Theme From The Valley of The Dolls. You never know who will come out to play at Playland 💓💓💓

@mx.demeanor continues to inspire with flier images taken from another place and time where people exhibited a bravery that truly led the way.

Next Daddy O: April Showers on Thursday April 23rd with special guest DJ Frank Paper, who is no stranger to the underground community, having played some of the best parties and raves of recent years (@reset_boston@keeponboston and of course their own residency at @vyoo_official ) & who specializes in all vinyl sets, and has coaxed resident DJ @dj_brianhalligan into playing some vinyl for the first time in decades, it's going to be a sonic soaked adventure!

Once again @mx.demean0r comes through with an evocative 1974 image by photographer Spencer Grant of an unknown performer at an unnamed Combat Zone venue in Boston for next month's Playland.

Our 3rd edition you can expect more high energy house, disco, pop, electro, a touch of new wave, and whatever else floats our boat, plus a special surprise related to this month's image. Resident DJ Brian Halligan keeps everyone moving from doors to last call.
