Chevreuil release “Ordrus,” third single from their comeback double album Stadium to be released on April 24, 2026. After a 20-year hiatus, the band re-emerged on February 18, 2026 with “Tartarus,” the first glimpse of Stadium, followed by “Plexus” on March 11. Now, “Ordrus” arrives as a compact yet intense piece—driven by heavy, martial drums that give way to swirling, fragmented guitar textures. Operating both as a standalone interlude and a connective passage, the track acts as a brief, haiku-like moment that channels the album’s ongoing movement and transformation. Chevreuil release “Plexus,” second single from their upcoming double album Stadium to be released on April 24, 2026.
Following a two-decade break, Chevreuil made their comeback on February 18, 2026, with “Tartarus,” the lead single from Stadium.
Today, the duo unveil “Plexus,” a single that adopts a heavier, minimalistic rock architecture that expands upon the innovations introduced in the previous track. The guitar — reconfigured and operating as a hybrid electro-acoustic engine capable of electronic timbres — underscores Chevreuil’s metamorphosis into a new kind of sonic organism. Guided by precise, minimalist drumming, the direct and powerful track highlights the rock-driven side of an album that is otherwise remarkably diverse.

Chevreuil is the French rock duo of Julien F. and Tony C. They formed in 1998 and from the beginning, they approached the idea of a band as a performative art installation — a self-contained, sculptural device for sound, space, and motion rather than a conventional rock ensemble. Julien and Tony, respectively, in their parlance, play “magnetic drums” and “magnetic guitar,” an analogy for their livewire, one-on-one chemistry, where the music seems to fall together by way of natural forces.
Chevreuil built its music around reduction, repetition, and architecture. Tony’s guitar runs through four amplifiers arranged around Julien’s drum kit, creating a quadraphonic field that surrounds the players. The result is both physical and spatial — a minimalist engine of rhythm and resonance that behaves as much like an installation as a band.
After a 20-year hiatus, Chevreuil returns with Stadium, their most esoteric album to date. Recorded in France in January 2025. Stadium preserves the essential conditions of their earlier work—live recording, four-amp immersion—while introducing new elements that expand the duo’s sonic vocabulary. Central to this evolution is a reconfigured guitar, functioning as a hybrid electro-acoustic engine capable of generating electronic timbres without compromising the project’s self-contained design.
Conceptually, the album draws on the music of the spheres, magnetism, radioactivity, barometric oscillations, astrometry and magic, using these ideas as lenses for exploring vibration and transformation. Each side of the double LP contains four pieces, forming parallel sequences that can be heard as two separate albums or a single continuum.

——— Preorder now Stadium by Chevreuil in Limited, Deluxe and Standard edition as well as Compact Disc, cassette and digitally + Stream and watch the music video for first single “Tartarus.” [links in bio]

——— Requiescat Record by New Brutalism is out today!
The three-track release — “088,” “087” and “089,” in keeping with the bands’ strict numerical naming convention — was recorded in 2021 by the late, great Steve Albini at Electrical Audio, and subsequently mastered by Bob Weston in 2025. It is out today, September 12, 2025 with the same tracklist on both sides of 45rpm, 12-inch 180g HQ vinyl.
Out of partly sound, partly aesthetic, mainly a thirst to build, @newbrutalism_ performs on aluminum instruments built by the band members. Check them out here @obstructures
We are thrilled to release this phenomenal-sounding, unconventionally structured record.

We’re absolutely dying for ya’ll to hear this deeply personal record, which came together unexpectedly and in person this past winter in our humble OKC home studio. While a departure from each of our collective traditional sounds, we think these 11 tracks of dust-laden rock will connect with those of you out there feeling a sense of collective real-time loss about the world.

New Brutalism is a minimal rock quartet formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1998. The band comprises vocalist Shane Elliott, guitarist/vocalist Matt Hall, bassist/vocalist David Basford, and drummer Carey Balch.
The three-track release — “088,” “087” and “089,” in keeping with their strict numerical naming convention — was recorded in 2021 by the late, great Steve Albini at Electrical Audio, and mastered by Bob Weston. It will arrive September 12, 2025 with the same tracklist on both sides of 45rpm, 12-inch 180g HQ vinyl — via Computer Students™.
Named after a defunct and often derided architectural movement, New Brutalism was born out of a shared musical vision between Hall and Balch, who first connected in 1996. For both, “less is more” became a guiding principle — channeled through an unwaveringly raw, direct, and honest approach to sound.
Out of partly sound, partly aesthetic, mainly a thirst to build, New Brutalism performs on aluminum instruments built by the band members. They chose the material because itʼs lighter than steel, more consistent than wood, and easy to machine. Above all, itʼs precise — and thereby, can produce precise music.
In 2021, New Brutalism entered Electrical Audio to record Requiescat Record. Named after a Latin term meaning a prayer for the repose of a dead person, Requiescat Record retroactively became a dedication to Albiniʼs memory.
Requiescat Record is offered in three forms:
—— Standard Edition: EP 180g HQ — Audiophile quality pressing, running at 45rpm, inside a 6mm spine gatefold cover with matte finish.
