The inhabitants of the Nasa Wes'x from Gaitania Indigenous Territory, in Planadas, Tolima, arrived in these lands after being displaced from Cauca during the Thousand Days War (civil conflict in Colombia at the end of the 19th century).

They settled in the high mountains of Gaitania, forming The Paéz indigenous reservation there. All without suspecting that years later and very close to this place, in Marquetalia, one of the first guerrilla groups in the history of Colombia would emerge, the FARC.

Due to the fierce confrontation between the Military Forces and the guerrillas, the Nasa suffered the cruelty of war, saw their integrity and the autonomy of their territory threatened for decades.
