@nat_hawkns from @cronullarslcommunity who did an amazing job of getting the event off the ground and coordinating everything to make it and epic day.
Plus @fitzyrun4acause who was the face and pep man down there for me, he also showed everyone what a real man in budgys looks like!

Big Heath from Felons, he literally runs the show on the day and is the reason Brisbane works at all.

From Soldier to Civilian: Finding Identity Again.

@joshjatkins shares the raw moment of leaving the Army; walking on base as a soldier, walking off as a civilian, handed a plaque and a “see ya, mate.” No roadmap, no talk of purpose. Just a sudden void.

He admits the struggle: beers, party drugs, self-destructive habits. But he clawed back identity by throwing himself into growth, first a PT course, then a uni degree, now chasing a Masters and even a Doctorate.
And through it all, he’s found extra purpose in hosting the annual @weightofwar Run. A space for mateship, vulnerability, and carrying the weight together.

Some bad news coming down the pipeline with regards to our Karratha event.

Unfortunately, due to an extreme heat event that’s occurring and a direct recommendation from the Heath Department WA.
We must unfortunately cancel Karrathas Weight of War Run for 2025.

Not to worry, the virtual run will be extending out a month, so when it’s safe to do so, you can still don the vest and budgys and tag the hell out of us!

But team, there’s always 2026!

🎙️🪖 Episode 91 and I’m joined by Josh. Josh has packed plenty into both service and civvy life. He enlisted in 2009, smashed out IETs as a Steward at HMAS Cerberus, posted to 5RAR, then back to Cerberus to play footy and re-trade as a Cook before heading to 7CSSB.

He discharged in 2015, but kicked off his own business within 3 months and has been very successful in the PT and the sports science field! In 2021 he launched Weight of War, raising $52k+ across four events and already on track to add another $16k in 2025, pushing the total close to $70,000 raised for a bloody good cause.
