Ray Muise is a Calgary-based photographer and videographer with nearly a decade of experience capturing compelling visual stories. With a background in documentary and fine art photography, Ray’s work focuses on human connection and dynamic storytelling. Passionate about fostering community through photography, he has worked on a range of projects from commercial work to protest coverage and creative portraiture. Now expanding into teaching, Ray is eager to share his knowledge and help others develop their skills behind the lens.

Join us for an immersive photography experience at @thelab.onebigjam, One Big Jam’s creative studio, where you’ll get hands-on with multiple strobe and continuous lighting setups for portrait photography!
Hosted by @raymuise and @alcovephotoclub, this event is a unique opportunity to explore different artificial lighting techniques, practice with models, experiment with various setups, and connect with fellow photographers in a collaborative environment.
Ray will kick off the event with a quick demonstration, breaking down the lighting setups and sharing insights on how to achieve professional-quality results. Each pre-arranged station will feature models, allowing you to focus on composition, lighting, and creative direction without the stress of setup.
Bring your camera and come ready to shoot, learn, and network! Whether you’re new to studio lighting or looking to refine your skills, this is the perfect chance to expand your portfolio and meet like-minded creatives.

This project took a whole year to make. In that time, it became more than just a creation, it became a reflection. A dance with the parts of myself I’ve ignored, a quiet vow to trust my own hands, my own vision.
When Denise and I first connected on this piece, it was about our relationship with dance. But this year, it took on a whole new meaning.
Can I bet on myself? Can I stand firmly in my own becoming, even when no one is watching?
What does it mean to choose myself, fully and without hesitation?
This piece is my answer. A reminder that putting myself first isn’t selfish, it’s necessary. That my voice, my rhythm, my presence is enough.
And maybe you’ve been asking yourself the same questions. Maybe this is your reminder too.
