So very proud of my lovely wife Lakshmi publishing her first book, Dwelling Places: The Practice and Witness of Intentional Christian Community. Such a privilege to witness this gift come into being! I know it will be a blessing to the world. Order your copy, link and discount code in the comments.

1 incredible month incredible month in 3 hakius

First Movement: World Council of Churches
treasure awaits us
return to the garden in
spirtual friendship

Second Movement: Desert Monasticism
learning how to pray
somewhere around the third hour
I tasted heaven

Third Movement: Cairo
at this crossing place
witness Holy Family
singing and dancing

Summer journey part 3. I was grateful to return to Northern Ireland a couple of weeks ago to join an international and intergenerational group of peacebuilders, reconcilers, and emerging leaders for a learning journey called "Nurturing Hope". In a small circle a first year Afro-Caribbean college student explains why he is planning to go into the medical field "I know this sounds weird but I kinda like going to those spaces where people are in pain because I'm like yeah I got you! I get to help people who are hurting, and that brings me joy." The circle includes an old South Korean priest, a retired Irish social worker, a professor and activist from Lithuania, a Dutch soldier commited to peace, a millennial who is working toward to Korean reconciliation on the Korean peninsula, a Latina RA from TX, and a retired white-American businessman turned philanthropist. I look around the room, everyone nods with complete understanding. I hear a whisper upon an indigenous wind, "All the Earth is sacred, with every step I take. All the air is sacred with every breathe I take. You know it... The people They are One." I am so grateful to be drafted into and suported but this inexhaustible Conspiracy of Love.

Summer journey part 2: Durham, St. Albans, Cambridge, London , Atlanta. At some point sitting in a UK theater sipping a g&t I started to feel guilty about this wonderful life I've been gifted. I was grateful that my wife (what a blessing!) suprised me with tickets to Hamilton but I began to think about all the suffering and injustice in the world right now, all those people far off and very near home who are living with thier backs against the wall... And then I heard the ancestors' whisper, "You better dance child. No one will life your life for you!" I have committed to a life of service. I will continue to witness to the pain in the world and respond with my whole self. And I will contine do so from a place of deep love and joy.

Summer journey pt. 1. Athens, Corinth, Berea, Philipi, Thessaloniki. Along my pilgrimage into Paul's world I experienced time stretch back millenia. Among all the ruins of temples and palaces I stepped into a small orthodox church and heard an eternal whisper "Do all things in and through and out of love." Civilizations, governments, religions all eventually crumble with time. All is destined to become ruins. When all the temporary powers of this world pass away Love is all that remains.

Psalm 9 chanted by the monks during evening prayer sounded remarkably relatable. The icon in my room of the lifeless body of Jesus being taking down from the cross by his friends seemed terribly timely. And yet land and silence and ancient practices of community revealed the ever-loving embrace of the Creator. While "The nations have fallen into the pit which they made, their feet caught in the snare they laid" I carry forth with me the whisper, "Remeber this peace."

This midsummer journey certainly felt like a dream as I floated through the UK: Liverpool, Carlisle, Birmingham, Manchester, London, York, Leeds, Helmsley, Durham, Whitby, Skipton, and Cambridge (I'm sure to be missing somewhere...) The pilgrimage tracing the path of Fredrick Douglas and the Anglican abolitionists alongside the deepening commitment to my soul friend and life partner led me to the gift...LIBERATION

That time in Italy was... overwhelming. But what a joy to dance with my beloved in the streets, to take in some of the greatest works of art in the world, and to dwell with the Spirit of Catherine of Sienna. The gift of this adventure was a confirmation of my call to work towards reconciliation and Chrisitan unity. (Spring 2023)
