Did you know #VariLite was born in a Texas sound company??

Showco started as a musician-driven operation in the late 60s, but as their clients, bands like Genesis, grew bigger, they needed lighting that could keep up. Engineer Jim Bornhorst started experimenting with dichroic filters and motors, and what came out of that was the #VL1. The world's first color-changing, moving-head luminaire.

Genesis saw the prototype, recognized its potential immediately, and an entire era of lighting design was born. Every moving light on every stage in the world today traces back to that moment.

Shoutout to PRG for this incredible feature. In a world of spectacle, restraint stood out. This is the kind of design that reminds us why we fell in love with this craft in the first place.

At Coachella, Tom Sutherland of @dx7design and the team at @prg.north.america did something that's becoming rare. They built a world and let it breathe. Scene by scene, layer by layer, #VLHive151 fixtures giving Labrinth's set a cinematic, architectural quality that held from the first cue to the last.
