It’s no secret that choosing where to visit in Australia can feel overwhelming, especially when the whole country is on your bucket-list. Here’s how we planned our 2 week+ adventure as U.S. tourists traveling to Australia for the first time and why these spots stole our hearts.👇

🚕 SYDNEY | 2 DAYS
A city that offers a mix of iconic landmarks, coastal beauty, and city life. With direct flights from major U.S. cities like Los Angeles and Dallas, it’s an accessible gateway to Australia, that allows you to adjust to the (brutal) time change. In two days you can explore the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, wander through The Rocks, relax at Bondi Beach, and enjoy the scenic Bondi to Coogee coastal walk.

⚓️ THE WHITSUNDAYS | 7 DAYS
A stunning collection of 74 tropical islands off the coast of Queensland, known for turquoise waters, white sand beaches, and easy access to The Great Barrier Reef. Spend seven days island hopping by sailboat, snorkeling from a liveaboard on the reef, and unwinding in Airlie Beach with oceanfront dining and laid-back coastal charm.

🏖️ MISSION BEACH | 2 DAYS
A quiet, tropical stretch of coastline in North Queensland, known for its lush rainforest, empty beaches, and access to The Great Barrier Reef. Spend two days soaking in the relaxed atmosphere, and take a short boat ride to Dunk Island for hiking trails, snorkeling, and stunning views of the Coral Sea.

🐠 CAIRNS | 4 DAYS
As the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is the perfect base for exploring one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders with easy day trips for snorkeling and diving. Over four days, you can meet koalas, kangaroos, and crocodiles at local wildlife parks, then unwind on beautiful nearby beaches like Palm Cove and Trinity Beach.

🌿CAPE TRIBULATION | 3 DAYS
Spend three days exploring the Daintree Rainforest, where the Great Barrier Reef meets one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests. Discover jungle trails, encounter unique wildlife, take guided night walks, and relax on remote beaches in this untouched corner of Australia.
