Komoco is seeking a Rehearsal Director with expertise in contemporary movement, the creation of new pieces, and re-staging existing productions, a person with strong artistic sensitivity and organizational skills, interested in building a long term path with the company.

FROM THE STUDIO // ‘LILA,’ a world premiere

Choreographer @sofianappi.kc has spent the past couple of months in our studios creating a world premiere to be revealed this week!

‘LILA,’ first created and first performed here in Vancouver, was also inspired in part by the city.

“This creation is rooted in my encounter with Vancouver 14 years ago when I was 17.” Says Sofia. “It’s a place whose inclusivity and multiplicity of voices reshaped my perspective and changed the course of my life. Here I discovered dance and movement creation. Returning now and creating for Ballet BC, I feel the freedom not to arrive with a fixed idea, but to meet the dancers, discover their strong individualities, and allow collective intelligence to emerge.”

❗️🚨Komoco is glad to announce “Komoco Summer Intensive 2026” –the dance company’s official 5 days workshop. 🚨❗️
For this 8th edition we are glad to continue the collaboration with Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino @teatrodelmaggio : the workshop will be held in the beautiful dance studio inside the Florence Opera House.
WHEN: FROM JULY 28 TO AUGUST 1, 2026 

Classes will focus on learning and understanding the Komoco language through research, while repertoire classes will be an opportunity to immerse yourself in the creations of the company with the original dancers and Sofia Nappi herself, for a taste of her creative vision. There will be a sharing of the work done during the 5 days in the studio on the last day of Intensive.
The workshop is aimed at professional dancers, 18+. We welcome people of all gender identities and expressions, cultural backgrounds and countries of origin.
It is an opportunity for the company and the choreographer to meet new artists, with the possibility of establishing future collaborations.

PARTICIPATION IS BY INVITATION ONLY FOR A SELECTED AMOUNT OF DANCERS.
