The Satsuma Gators Track and Field Team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion, earning multiple podium finishes and qualifying several athletes for the state championship this weekend.

The Lady Gators delivered a strong team performance, finishing third overall—just six points shy of second place.

Leading the way was the girls’ 4x800-meter relay team of Kyla Blackwood, Ashia Martinez, Makayla Fontenot, and Izzy Riddick. The quartet captured the 4A Section 1 Championship while breaking the school record for the third time this season with a time of 11:08.55.

Adleigh Montalvo claimed the sectional title in the javelin with a throw of 101-9 and also placed fourth in the high jump (4-6). Teammate Sasha Adams earned a second-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 89-5.5.

Kyla Blackwood had a standout meet, finishing third in the 1600-meter run (5:39.24), third in the 3200-meter run (13:01.31), and fifth in the 800-meter run (2:35.89). Izzy Riddick also turned in a strong performance, placing second in the 800-meter run (2:33.78), fourth in the 1600-meter run (5:49.56), and fifth in the 3200-meter run (13:30.59).

In the field events, Alniyah Creagh placed third in the shot put with a throw of 34-10.

On the boys’ side, Cohen Taylor, returning from injury, finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:51.69.

All of these athletes have qualified to compete at the state championship meet this weekend.

Several Gators also achieved personal bests at the sectional meet, including Corbin Adams (400-meter dash), Evan Bell (200-meter dash), Kynsleigh Durgins (100 and 200), Laurin Law (100), Dalton Lee (400), Ashia Martinez (400), and Jordan Poe (100).
