Roundtable readings acknowledges today as a day of mourning and I extend my solidarity and support to all indigenous peoples within the community.

The rightful owners of this land have a richer and far more developed relationship with storytelling than colonial 'Australia' and as we tell our stories on stolen land we must do so with the knowledge that indigenous peoples have been doing it since time immemorial.
As a white person disseminating information and stories through written text, it is so imperative that I acknowledge the ways in which the written word and the white archive have been used to delegitimise that of the knowledge sharing practices of First Nations peoples.
Colonial culture has a habit of separating creativity and academia to diminish the knowledge of other cultures.
What indigenous cultures around the world can teach us is that art in its various forms is so integral to knowledge systems, including storytelling, art making and performance.
We occupy and create art on a living, breathing archive as the stories of indigenous people live here in the land.

ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE.
