You may have heard that Congressional Republicans passed a bill today to block Planned Parenthood health centers from receiving federal funding.

While this is true, we want to assure people that Planned Parenthood health centers in California remain open to serve patients. 🩷

Throughout his career, Xavier Becerra has fought for the LGBTQ+ community and their rights – in the courts as Attorney General, through new inclusive policies as HHS Secretary, and so much more.

When the federal government defunded Planned Parenthood in July 2025, California stepped in with state funding to keep health centers open. In many ways it is a win but, 3.4 million Californians are still at risk of losing Medi-Cal coverage under the new federal cuts, and California’s safety net was already carrying patients from states that had lost access years ago. 80% of Planned Parenthood patients here rely on public insurance. Nearly 90% are below the federal poverty line. The infrastructure is holding but it is not invincible.
