俄の「梅宴」シリーズと、太宰府の飛梅伝説をモチーフに制作しています。
本来そこには存在しないはずの梅が現れるその幻想的な場面を店内で体感できるよう構成しました。
「梅宴」のコンセプトである、格子窓から外を眺める視点をもとに、内と外、現実と記憶の境界がゆるやかに重なる場をつくっています。
空白によって梅の輪郭を浮かび上がらせ、周囲の余白にもその気配が広がるように制作しました。
The piece is inspired by NIWAKA’s jewelry collection UMEUTAGE and the Japanese story of TOBIUME, in which a plum tree is said to have flown overnight to follow its absent master.
Drawing from the perspective of UMEUTAGE—viewing plum blossoms through a lattice window—the work evokes a surreal moment in which plum blossoms appear where they should not exist.
Rather than depicting the form directly, the contours of the blossoms emerge through the empty spaces formed by varying densities of beads and sequins.
What is left unrendered appears instead as the plum itself, allowing its presence to extend into the surrounding space.
The work invites a shifting perception between presence and absence, form and trace.

On my first day in Paris, my jeans tore, a pot broke, and the power went out the moment I turned on the stove. It was a day of small mishaps, one after another. After a while, I started to feel they might have protected me from something much worse, and I couldn’t bring myself to throw the torn jeans away.
That was the beginning of Stitching Unseen.
I stitched into them not to repair the damage, but to let the hole remain as it was. Once the warp threads are gone, the stitch can no longer be fully controlled.
Embroidery is usually a medium of control. That’s exactly why I wanted to see what shape might emerge when control began to slip.
パリ初日、出かけようと思って履いたジーンズが裂けた。
気を取り直してお茶を淹れようとしたらポットが割れ、ひとまずお湯でもと思ってコンロをつけた瞬間にブレーカーが落ちた。何か意味を感じさせるほどの立て続け具合に、裂けたジーンズを捨てられなかった。
裂けた傷を修復するためではなく、穴が穴であるために刺繍をした。
縦糸を失った場所に刺繍をしようとすると、どうしてもコントロールが効かなくなる。
完全には制御できない状態を刺繍の中に持ち込んだとき、
そこからあふれたものが、どのように形を決めていくのかを確かめてみたかった。

Embroidery is usually a medium of control. That’s exactly why I wanted to see what shape might emerge when control began to slip.
パリ初日、出かけようと思って履いたジーンズが裂けた。
気を取り直してお茶を淹れようとしたらポットが割れ、ひとまずお湯でもと思ってコンロをつけた瞬間にブレーカーが落ちた。何か意味を感じさせるほどの立て続け具合に、裂けたジーンズを捨てられなかった。
裂けた傷を修復するためではなく、穴が穴であるために刺繍をした。
縦糸を失った場所に刺繍をしようとすると、どうしてもコントロールが効かなくなる。
完全には制御できない状態を刺繍の中に持ち込んだとき、
そこからあふれたものが、どのように形を決めていくのかを確かめてみたかった。
