@rollingstone thank you for a great conversation about Verticalandia!! Itβs been a crazy 2 1/2 years since verticals first popped up in the US and changed everything. When I started, (hello Double Life) it was young, scrappy, and hungry. We had a script of sorts and a dream. Iβve watched vertical world level up again and again since which brings us to our current thriving industry filled with film veterans and box office numbers.
Verticals have given me and my peers the training ground of a lifetime. Making content regardless of format takes SO many people and provides SO many jobs, ones that are often highly specialized and competitive. Through verticals, many of us new in our careers have been able to get a considerable amount of experience in a short amount of time and even try our hand at being multi-hyphenates and expanding our skill sets. Now, we have the privilege of working alongside seasoned professionals around the world as verticals have expanded into the mainstream entertainment industry.
We do have a long way to go to improve the industryβbut so does mainstream Hollywood. The entire entertainment industry continues to struggle with the same problems: equitable compensation for all contributors, a lack of diversity, homogenous storylines, perpetuating harmful stereotypes, the Ole Boyβs Club of it all to name a few. Will it ever be completely fixed? I dont know, but weβll continue to advocate in the right directions.
I choose to stand optimistic about micro dramas. For every bad apple thereβs a really beautiful bushel and every day I see more creatives and professionals lending their talents and efforts to shape this industry into the one we want. Weβve come so far in such a short amount of time and thereβs a lot to be excited about.
Iβm so grateful for this silly world of spilled drinks and secret identities. Ive met some of my best friends, traveled the world, been able to build a life, and I get to pursue my dreams every day. I get to connect with fans who love microdramas to relive stress, to feel seen, to escape, to be inspired, or just for fun. Itβs all important. Thank you, Verticalandia. Now someone, Im begging, put me in a rom comπ€π§Ό

her therapist recommended she start doing grounding work in the morning
HAPPY STEP BY STEP RELEASE!!!! your fun fact about the wedding reception scene is that I took my big toe clean off immediately before. The script had Lily drunk and stumbling barefoot, so of course during camera rehearsal I boofed my shit on a ripe cobblestone and absolutely annihilated my phalange. IMMEDIATELY numb. Thinking i had just stubbed it, I keep walking. Someone starts yelling for set medic. I laugh, because, since when do we have those?? Hobbling my way up onto the wall to ruin my momβs wedding, I notice the red sea I have leaked across the patio like a faulty garden hose. The corner of my toe is dangling like a piece of lukewarm string cheese but do you know what? what tf am i gonna do about that? what business of mine is that?? that is simply not my problem right now. We persevere. Then, lo and behold, our REAL SET MEDIC, the incomparable Margarita Velona, appears and tourniquets my foot with a strength that would have the WSM ripping Mitchell Hooperβs trophy away from his pitifully trembling fingers had they bore witness. Truly, my deepest gratitude to Margarita, who willed my toe to fuse back together with the power of friendship and ACE bandages.
