My mother was the first filmmaker, the first writer, the first activist, the first revolutionary in my life. I spent my childhood and the rest of my life chasing after her ideals.
When most were kickingsoccer balls in the alley, or playing house, I was searching the skies for a way to help my Native American brothers and sisters.
By the time I was 10 years old the people of Congo, Vietnam and Palestine were also added in the tears of my eyes.
I was only 12 years old when I came to United States and it was then when I realized the suffering of Black America. It might be hard for the younger people to understand but less than 10 years before black people had to use segregated bathrooms and not welcome everywhere.
By the time I was 20 years old, I had educated myself to be familiar with the struggles of many other people. South Africa, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba, one by one found their cause in my heart.
Because of how my mother had raised me, and because thinking of others always came first and before oneself, Iran and people of Iran were not in the list of people who needed my help and empathy. I’m mot saying I did not have empathy or didn’t care for their struggles, rather I saw them as revolutionaries and strong and independent. I did not look down at them like the farsi speaking Diaspora, who feel entitled to think for them and to think of them as weak and victims. My spirit knew better not to get involved in manufacturing consent for war and to get my karma entangled with the blood of hundreds of innocent school girls,let alone beg to have them bombed!!!!! 🤦🏻
I know not all Iranian diaspora is evil, but uneducated and brainwashed is even worse and not an excuse.
As it’s known in an old Persian saying…a fool throws a stone into a well, which a hundred wise men cannot pull out. 💚🖤💔
