3. tips for a solid sub:

1. use saturation well. this is what in big part shapes the tone and timbre of the subs. Decapitator plugin is great for it but Ableton's effects work great too

2. make sure your subs sound full and present all the way down to around 30hz. a lot of baseline made through rumble or synths peaks around 60-70hz and steeply drops in volume below it. in reality it's those frequencies around 30-50hz that create the chest-rumbling power in the club

3. filtering down the subs to around 100hz makes for a clean sub sound

In music, vocals are extremely powerful and important. As humans we’ve evolved to be deeply sensitive to the frequencies and tone of the human voice.

This means that vocals that sound confident and clear in the track can make it sound significantly more professional and impactful.

As a rule of thumb, try to set the volume of your vocals to a level where they feel ‘confident’ and ‘prominent’ in context of the rest of the track.

In my opinion, it’s better to have them slightly too loud than have them too quiet.

This is because at the mastering stage it’s much easier to compress a loud vocal than turn it up.

So whenever you’re in doubt on the loudness of the vocal, just add an extra +2db and send the track my way :)
