FABLES 008 (MIX) | FLOWERDRUM | 🇮🇩 🇵🇭 🇦🇺 | MUSIC

The story of Flowerdrum started with a feeling, that instant creative connection you rarely find, when ideas flow before you even know much about the other person. Rino and I [Juno Mamba] met for the first time in the studio, and within minutes, it felt like we’d known each other for years. The first track we made together came out of that energy: fast, intuitive, unspoken. That session became the seed for what’s now our debut collaborative EP, Flowerdrum.

The project draws from our shared upbringing as Asian immigrants: two lives shaped by movement, memory, family, and culture, meeting somewhere between our roots and where we are now. We wanted the EP to be representative of this shared parallel experience, where we meld euphoric intensity (movement) with introspection (memory).

This Fables mix was created with that in mind, between two worlds: Melbourne, where Rino is currently based, and Europe, where I’m (Juno Mamba) touring. The distance somehow mirrored how Flowerdrum came to life: separate voices finding harmony across space.

We’ve been building this mix much like we built Flowerdrum: through collaboration, instinct, and playfulness. We created a shared playlist where we both added tracks that resonated with us. From there, we curated the tracks we were most drawn to, before weaving in some unreleased material from friends and us to make it feel truly personal.

Across the hour, you’ll hear the tracks that shaped the Flowerdrum EP: atmospheric breaks, bass-driven electronica, textural UK garage and everything in between that orbits around our creative world.

More than anything, this mix is about the beauty of connection and the invisible thread that ties us through music, even when we’re oceans apart.
