As I turned a year older and said goodbye to 2023 my heart was so full looking back on my spiritual journey and the many special moments last year. Here are a few I will cherish forever. Same Love music video was released 10 years ago today. Such a beautiful creation highlighting marriage equality. This magical moment in time also completely changed the course of my life. I was living in LA and struggling… came home to Seattle to try and get on antidepressants. I got a text from @baba_g that said “I heard you’re in town… will you help me produce a new music video for Ben & Ryan called Same Love?”. I had been in awe of their work both musically and visually and didn’t hesitate. I met Tricia at All Pilgrims church on Capitol Hill and the rest is history. Little did I know I would stick around to help ship thousands of Heist albums out of their tiny studio off Aurora. I would be so inspired to work with a team who had the same ride or die work ethic. I would tour the world and experience the most incredible once in a lifetime highs and also the darkest lows from stress and addiction. I would learn the craft of video production and build a lasting career. I would be nominated for a Grammy and win VMA awards. But most importantly, I would get to help fulfill Make-A-Wish moments & hear from fans about how this and other songs saved their life. I would meet the most amazing humans and cultivate deep relationships to last a lifetime. And I would begin a journey in recovery and have 8 years sober this month. Thank you @baba_g @macklemore & @ryanlewis for changing my life in ways I never thought possible. #forevergrateful🙏 #samelove🌈

I want to remember this moment forever. That I woke up yesterday morning to watch @vanjones68 beautiful and emotional explanationhow important this moment is. To spend the day with women in my life, women in my family, esp the young girls who got to watch @kamalaharris make history and become the first woman in office; the first woman of color! To remember that black women pulled our country out of this mess. And to never forget that although the final moment is celebratory, the moral outcome of this presidential race was a disgrace and so much work needs to be done in this country to dismantle racism, classism, and injustice.
