저희는 철도 이전 이후 단절되어 있던 안동역 일대의 광장, 기존 건축, 그리고 공원을 하나의 흐름으로 다시 연결하는 문화도시 플랫폼을 제안하였습니다. 서로 다른 시간과 기억을 품은 세 개의 건물을 캐노피를 중심으로 엮어, 과거의 흔적이 현재의 문화 활동으로 전환되고 다시 일상의 도시 경험으로 확장되는 구조를 만들고자 했습니다. 이 프로젝트는 새로운 건축을 더하기보다, 이미 존재하던 시간과 공간의 단절을 회복하여 사람들이 머물고, 바라보고, 자연스럽게 이어지는 안동의 새로운 도시 장면을 만들어낼 것입니다.

Our proposal reestablishes continuity between the plaza, existing buildings, and the adjacent park in the Andong Station area—an urban fabric that had been fragmented following the relocation of the railway. By weaving together three buildings that embody different periods and collective memories around a central canopy, the project creates a framework in which traces of the past are transformed into contemporary cultural activities and further extended into everyday urban experiences. Rather than adding a new architectural object, the project seeks to restore the ruptures in time and space that already exist, forming a renewed urban scene in Andong where people can linger, observe, and move naturally through a continuous sequence of spaces.

서초동 1697-38은 동측의 아파트 단지와 4m 도로에 면해 있으며, 향후 아파트 단지와 연계된 도로 확장이 예정된 변화의 접점에 위치한 대지이다. 건물의 형태는 일조권 사선제한으로 인하여 계단식 매스를 가지고 있으나, 이를 디자인적 어휘로 해석하여 격자형 그리드를 도입했다. 이를 통해 계단식 형태의 시각적 분절을 최소화하고 전면에서 하나의 모듈로 인식되도록 의도했다. 외장재는 장방형의 석재를 교차 적용하였으며, 저층부는 상부의 석재 매스와 대비하여 진회색 스터코와 전면유리를 적용하여 시각적으로 분리하고자 했다.

The site faces a 4-meter-wide road and an adjacent apartment complex to the east, and is located at a point of transition where the road is planned to be widened in connection with the apartment development in the future. Due to solar access setback regulations, the building mass inevitably takes on a stepped configuration. Rather than treating this as a constraint, the stepped form is reinterpreted as a design vocabulary through the introduction of a grid-based framework. This strategy minimizes the visual fragmentation of the mass and allows the building to be perceived as a single modular entity when viewed from the front. The exterior is finished with elongated stone panels arranged in an alternating pattern. In contrast, the lower levels are visually differentiated from the upper stone volume by the use of dark gray stucco and full-height glazing, reinforcing a clear distinction between the base and the upper mass.

서초동 1697-38은 동측의 아파트 단지와 4m 도로에 면해 있으며, 향후 아파트 단지와 연계된 도로 확장이 예정된 변화의 접점에 위치한 대지이다. 건물의 형태는 일조권 사선제한으로 인하여 계단식 매스를 가지고 있으나, 이를 디자인적 어휘로 해석하여 격자형 그리드를 도입했다. 이를 통해 계단식 형태의 시각적 분절을 최소화하고 전면에서 하나의 모듈로 인식되도록 의도했다. 외장재는 장방형의 석재를 교차 적용하였으며, 저층부는 상부의 석재 매스와 대비하여 진회색 스터코와 전면유리를 적용하여 시각적으로 분리하고자 했다.

The site faces a 4-meter-wide road and an adjacent apartment complex to the east, and is located at a point of transition where the road is planned to be widened in connection with the apartment development in the future. Due to solar access setback regulations, the building mass inevitably takes on a stepped configuration. Rather than treating this as a constraint, the stepped form is reinterpreted as a design vocabulary through the introduction of a grid-based framework. This strategy minimizes the visual fragmentation of the mass and allows the building to be perceived as a single modular entity when viewed from the front. The exterior is finished with elongated stone panels arranged in an alternating pattern. In contrast, the lower levels are visually differentiated from the upper stone volume by the use of dark gray stucco and full-height glazing, reinforcing a clear distinction between the base and the upper mass.
