After over 40 years as Gruber, we are taking on a new name. This is a meaningful step forward for us. Fellow reflects how we see our role — not as the center of the building process, but as a partner within it.

A fellow is someone who walks alongside you.
Someone who shares responsibility for the work.
Someone who is invested in getting it right.

Although our company name is changing, our team, the relationships, and the way we approach our work are not. If anything, this is a clearer expression of what we’ve always believed.

We are incredibly grateful for the role each of our partners have played in the journey so far. Many of the projects we’ve been part of wouldn’t have been possible without their collaboration, trust, and willingness to do great work together.

More than anything, we just want to say thank you — and let you know how excited we are about what’s ahead.

Nestled in the foothills south of Lyons, Colorado, this will be a home for a couple relocating for a more intimate connection to nature and access to the Rocky Mountains’ myriad of outdoor activities. The steep hillside site and adjacent cliff face provide a sense of seclusion, while offering stunning panoramic Front Range views to the west and north.
Clad with durable, non-combustible materials as a wildfire mitigation measure, the weathered steel panels and board formed concrete provide a characteristic ruggedness that will age gracefully and require minimal maintenance over time.

Restraint is a design decision. One material, one wall left bare, one moment where light does the work, that's where a home starts to feel considered rather than assembled.

Restoring these original brick pilaster columns meant more than just cleaning them up.

The sheetrock had been glued directly to the masonry with black mastic, so we used an angle grinder with a wire wheel, working across the entire brick face to keep the sheen consistent. The kind of detail most people will never notice, which means we did it right.

Donald Roark designed this home in 1968 with the glass bridge as its centerpiece, connecting the two wings, anchoring the entire composition.

Our job here isn't to reinvent anything. It's to make sure this bridge performs exactly as it should: new floor sheathing, shimmed and shaved flat, no squeaks, ready to receive finishes.

When the architecture is already doing the work, the best thing a builder can do is get out of its way and make sure nothing undermines it.

Most people buy a piece of land, pick a plan they like, and drop it wherever it fits.

But when you slow down and really study the land, where the sun tracks, where the views open up, how the slope wants to drain, everything about the design changes.

That's when a home stops sitting on the land and starts growing out of it.

Light changes everything.

At Bridge House, every opening and skylight was designed with the intention of bringing natural light deeper into the home, highlighting craftsmanship within it.

At Fellow, we think of lighting as part of the architecture itself.

Built in collaboration with @arcden_studio and @303_bridgehouse.

At Bridge House, the property line gave us almost nothing to work with.

Bringing natural light into the lower level was the right call, so we hand-dug a window well fourteen feet down, bucket by bucket, inches from the neighboring fence line.

The rebar is in. The retaining walls are next. Some of the most important work on this project will never be seen.
