On June 1, we’re welcoming Talulah Paisley to DW! At 8 PM

From New York! Talulah Paisley @talulahpaisley will bring their unique, experimental brand of pop. Described by the New York Times as “unselfconsciously whimsical... unapologetically earnest,” come on over and get you some!

Also playing is Wilson Ridge @wilson.ridge.stl ! An indie/ folk band singing songs of climate change, being gay in Missouri, doing laundry, love, televangelists, etc, doing in a lovely appealing way.

Finally, fish home @fish.h0me brings home the bacon! A rock band! Zach, Madi and Kobe, bringing you some tunes we know you’ll love.

MFW You miss the next Cognitive Dissonance event! No. 3!!!
Cognitive Dissonance No. 3:
In the third iteration of the Cognitive Dissonance series, MaxCorp Industries proudly presents the work of @122_zeros Maureen Keavney, a multi-format artist who specializes in incredible abstract sonic landscapes and experimental sound using prepared objects and effect routing. Shades of classic electronics/concrete; shades of improv; a healthy dose of that NWW “Hidden Reverse” philosophy and sound.
Kevin Harris @afterlife_laboratories and Alex Cunningham @alexcunningham.wav will perform an improvisational collaboration; Kevin is a master of modular synthesis and quick tonal/timbral changes, and an insane palate of sounds to work with and manipulate in real time. Alex Cunningham is a busy boy; collabing and improving with many of the heavy hitters in improvised music today. Alex has a remarkable grasp of the flow of improvised music and the tone of his instrument. Kevin and Alex are always incredible to experience.
Dan Of Earth. Part engineer, part experimental musician, part coffee and generic Dr Pepper enthusiast… Where to begin? As long as I’ve known Dan, its always been bespoke instrumentation, always sonically dynamic and captivating, and always FUN. You may know his Bibletron performances or his Atari 2600 rom builds, or his long running collab with Peter Woods and Neil Gravander, Phoned Nil Trio. Dan is BUILDING A DEVICE TO WORK IN QUAD FOR THIS PERFORMANCE!!!!! A bespoke device for an epic show! Do not miss this!!!!
At your favorite place for the best gigs, @dissonantworks! Accept no substitutes! See you there, true believers!

Saturday, May 23! 7 pm, some jazz for ya!!

Conspiracy Deliracy, the brainchild of St. Louis bassist and composer Andrew Binder, features original compositions crossed between modern jazz, pop music icons, their music, and conspiracy theories. The music is tongue-in-cheek commentary on today’s delusional era of misinformation, sensitively interpreted by some of the Midwest’s top jazz musicians.

Dissonant Works presents

An evening of ambient pedal steel

Luke Schneider (Nashville, TN), Nate Hofer (Kansas City), Mike Stover (Kansas City)

Luke Schneider @lukefromnashville is a Nashville-based ambient pedal steel artist whose meditative, drone-based compositions transform the instrument’s traditional role into immersive sound. His releases on Third Man Records, Leaving Records, and Northern Spy position him within a contemporary experimental context.

Nate Hofer @natehofer is a Kansas City–area artist working with ambient and experimental pedal steel guitar. His music blends improvisation and “accidental” composition, informed by Brian Eno and Buddy Emmons. His forthcoming solo release Decommissioned was recorded inside a decommissioned Atlas F missile silo near Wilson, Kansas.

Mike Stover @stovey_stov is a Kansas City–based multi-instrumentalist, recently focused on pedal steel guitar, performing both classic country and less traditional work, including solo performances and collaborations with artists such as Lorna Kay.
