August 💘 2007 - It’s been a really big year for me. 17 years since this accident, and almost a year into a comeback I didn’t know I was going to need to have 😂.
Right after I broke my neck, my main goal was to surf again. At the time it was off the table. I chose to try and avoid surgery, and my doctors laid out milestones I’d need to hit in order to.
There was a moment where it was going to be game over, nice try, you gotta do surgery, surfing’s going to be a distant memory, and my PT really thought mentally and emotionally there were some things holding me back. She gave me a month, we were just going to focus on clearing the mind.
Once I replaced fear, self-doubt, anger, resentment all those low frequency emotions with just love & gratitude — my entire life changed. I not only overcame my injury but I started to achieve things that I never thought I could — became a lifeguard, surfed again, helped others surf. I was completely new inside & out.
This year I dealt with a lot of complications from my injury, and everything felt like I was starting over — if not meeting my new normal.
I started working with a doctor that got me into even deeper practices of meditation, visualization, & mental observation. Combining that with all the physical work — it’s the only thing that’s helped me break through.
And once again, a lot more in my life has changed than just my neck. If not everything. (Although thank you x a million it’s really nice to have a straight neck again @doctor_kendra ;) )
I surfed for the first time in 10 months, on the same week of my accident at the same place I got injured.
When you start paying attention to the way your thoughts affect everything moment to moment — you can’t make the stuff up that happens & heals.
I’m having more fun than I’ve ever had, and although I’m not 100% back, I know I’m going to be, and I have no doubt of what I can do. New mind. New Body. I’m grateful for the never ending lesson. I’m gonna surf forever. 🌠🌊🫶🏼

2024 was the year of directing. I’m more fired up to make movies than I’ve ever been. This entire year pushed my craft and let me evolve in a way I was surprised by. I saw films that amped me up. Made films that amped me up. Was around friends making movies that amped me up. I’m inspired.❤️🔥🔮Meditation really helped me stay in that special place to keep on having fun. So much love ✌🏼

When we first started this brand new series, we had no idea what it should sound like.
There was really nothing like the format we were going for. 60 second stories, needed to pack a punch but feel delicate all at the same time, and still feel like there was a true score.
Matt lead the way 🔦 and every song we’ve made since for this series keeps building off the trust and energy we put into these first tracks.
Team @intermaritimestudios 🌕🌕🌕
Really cool to see people we worked with on Season 1 of @yeti x @wsl continuing to do their thing in incredible ways.
@shanedorian just wrapped up coaching the Olympic US surf team bringing home gold on the women’s side with Caroline Marks.
