two weeks left to see my solo exhibition, “Waiting Room” at @longstoryshort.paris

“Waiting Room” a solo exhibition with @longstoryshort.paris and @cierrabrittongallery is on view until February 28th

A waiting room is a liminal space; a state of transition; a physical and metaphorical point where one pauses before moving to the next. Across eleven new works, Andy’s “Waiting Room” unfolds within this threshold. Considering the domestic spaces we occupy and the cogitations that occupy us, she visualizes interior scenes where women are intimately suspended in thought, both alone and with one another. Closely highlighting body language and gazes transfixed beyond the frame, we see the figures present in the paintings, yet seemingly elsewhere internally—their postures suggesting rumination. With routine objects, such as papers, chairs, and ashtrays, mindfully positioned alongside the body as grounding elements, Andy’s works reflect how and where women take space to sit with themselves, while also asking what may be revealed in their stillness.

Waiting Room captures the moments hung before an inevitable shift.

Bre Andy’s intimate oil paintings quietly celebrate the beauty of vulnerability, turning fleeting everyday moments into sites of reflection.

Drawing from personal experience, her work explores the nuances of intimacy, sexuality and domesticity through portraiture and still life.

Moments such as undressing, reclining or gazing into a mirror are presented with softness and intention, inviting the viewer into a space of
quiet observation and emotional honesty. Her introspective work draws from personal experiences, inspired by the day-to-day, ephemeral
moments that capture the essence of womanhood.

Behind Closed Doors brings together five artists whose practices explore the emotional and symbolic weight of the everyday. Rooted in personal experience, the works on view use the language of domestic interiors, private rituals and psychological space to explore intimacy, memory and the self. These paintings are neither overt confessions nor grand narratives, but quiet reflections and imaginations that ask the viewer to ruminate slowly and look closely. Together they form a body of work that transforms ordinary moments into something cinematic and charged with interior meaning.

At the core of the exhibition is a shared interest in the home, not just as a physical site but as a space of reflection, secrecy and personal mythology. These artists move beyond the mundanity of the everyday, focusing instead on gestures that are intimate and richly layered. Bre Andy’s intimate oil paintings quietly celebrate the beauty of vulnerability, turning fleeting everyday moments into sites of reflection.

Drawing from personal experience, her work explores the nuances of intimacy, sexuality and domesticity through portraiture and still life.

Moments such as undressing, reclining or gazing into a mirror are presented with softness and intention, inviting the viewer into a space of
quiet observation and emotional honesty. Her introspective work draws from personal experiences, inspired by the day-to-day, ephemeral
moments that capture the essence of womanhood.

Behind Closed Doors brings together five artists whose practices explore the emotional and symbolic weight of the everyday. Rooted in personal experience, the works on view use the language of domestic interiors, private rituals and psychological space to explore intimacy, memory and the self. These paintings are neither overt confessions nor grand narratives, but quiet reflections and imaginations that ask the viewer to ruminate slowly and look closely. Together they form a body of work that transforms ordinary moments into something cinematic and charged with interior meaning.
