O BEAST IFF regressa ao Porto de 3 a 7 de junho, com um programa pensado sobre o tema HOME. Hoje revelamos a imagem oficial da 9ª edição.

Este ano, o festival explora a ideia de lar, não como um lugar fixo, mas como algo que se transporta através da memória, dos vestígios e das coisas que deixamos para trás. Uma marca numa parede, um objeto esquecido, um gesto, um som, um corpo a atravessar o espaço.

Entre perder e encontrar, ausência e presença, começámos a pensar no que fica depois de as pessoas partirem e no que continua a seguir-nos. O programa abraça fragmentos, impressões e memórias recolhidas, em busca de um lar em lugares, pessoas e histórias que se recusam a desaparecer.

BEAST IFF returns to Porto from 3 to 7 June, with a programme dedicated to the theme of HOME. Today we are revealing the official image for the 9th edition.

This year, the festival moves through the idea of home, not as a fixed place, but as something carried through memory, traces and the things we leave behind. A mark on a wall, a forgotten object, a gesture, a sound, a body passing through space.

Between losing and finding, absence and presence, we began thinking about what remains after people leave, and what continues to follow us. The programme embraces fragments, imprints and collected memories, searching for home in places, people and histories that refuse to disappear.

O BEAST e a Rádio Quântica apresentam uma iniciativa conjunta que liga Portugal a várias rádios comunitárias da Europa Central e de Leste. Durante os dias 6 e 7 de junho, a Rádio Quântica transmitirá um conjunto de programas de cada rádio, oferecendo um vislumbre da essência curatorial de cada uma delas. No âmbito desta iniciativa, será ainda realizada uma conversa online com alguns membros das várias rádios (LET’S TALK! COMMUNITY RADIO).

BEAST and Rádio Quântica present a joint initiative connecting Portugal with several community radios from CEE. LET´S TALK! COMMUNITY RADIO

Durante todas as sessões do BEAST, o público poderá assistir às animações do artista Alexandre Estrela, realizadas no âmbito do projeto RedSkyFalls @redskyfalls, representação portuguesa na 61.ª Exposição Internacional de Arte, Bienal de Veneza.

[ RedSkyFalls ] expande-se a geografias fortemente sísmicas, através da instalação da reprodução de uma das Réplicas de RedSkyFalls, onde a peça responde com maior sincronia aos eventos tectónicos. Ativações em São Francisco (The Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts), Lima (Museo de Arte de Lima), Cidade do México (Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo/UNAM), Los Angeles (REDCAT) e Lisboa (Galeria Zé dos Bois).

LET´S TALK! | COMMUNITY RADIO

As part of the collaboration with Rádio Quântica and several community radios for a special broadcast during the period of the festival, BEAST will hold a space for exchange on what constitutes and builds “Community Radio”: for a deeper understanding on modes of operation and practices, sharing from struggles to aspirations.

WHY FESTIVALS MATTER?

For a few days each year, film festivals bring people together around cinema. They introduce new films and filmmakers, create opportunities for encounters, and offer a different way of experiencing culture within the city.

This informal discussion brings together representatives from Sunny Bunny Film Festival (Ukraine), ŻUBROFFKA International Short Film Festival (Poland), Porto Femme International Film Festival, and BEAST International Film Festival to talk about what festivals do, who they are for, and why they continue to hold a special place in the cultural life of their communities.
