A road trip tour with @ollie_raps . Had a ton of fun spending time with these guys all over the country. I’m always grateful I get to watch and document your journey, Ollie. I appreciate you having me along!

Last year I got to go to China with @ollie_raps for his “Better Me” tour. With the help from a bunch of amazing people, I put together a short film that reflects on some of the moments and memories from the tour and I’m excited for it to to finally be done!

@mattjasonblakley I can’t thank you enough for the time and effort you put into this project. You truly brought this idea to life in post and I had a blast working with you!

A link to the full film is in my bio!

Drove down to a really small town to spend some time with David and Lenny. We did a quick preliminary shoot, and I felt lucky to sit with them as they shared their beautiful and inspiring love story with me. Their lives are filled with so many unique experiences, both individually and together, and I’m excited to continue working toward a longer form project with them!

Every time I saw Warren he always had a story to tell me about an interaction he had with a “customer” while picking up their recycling. He showed me cards that they would write, thanking him for everything he was doing - I could tell he was so proud. I asked if I could spend a couple days going to work with him to just document his day-to-day work. There was no concrete plan of what the documentary was going to be about other than him picking up the trash.
It was freezing cold and you could barely see where you were driving with the amount of snow falling, but he had a smile on his face the entire day. I watched as he took time to play with all the dogs that ran up to see him when they saw his truck pulling up, or have a conversation with anyone who was outside on a walk or just waiting by their garbage to see him and say good morning. You could see how happy these interactions made him and it felt really special. The idea of Warren finding this fulfillment through these relationships he was making while picking up trash presented itself while filming. Warren, you are the most kind-hearted, genuine, and caring person and it was a pleasure to ride along with you and try to capture just a sliver of who you are. Thank you for being so open with me while we made this. Your positivity is admirable and I appreciate you being part of my life, love you!

Also, @ryancowan thanks for always being there to look at every version this doc went through. I showed way too many of them to you but you took the time to give each one a watch and your thoughts, even when you didnt notice anything change.
@borninmay.wav the music turned out amazing and it was such a fun experience working with you on this. I’m very thankful for you hopping on and putting so much time and effort in. You’re so talented and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
@Kevinwu your magic touch brought this beautiful grit to the visuals that paired with this project so perfectly. Thank you.
@s.quinnhoodless the sound design and mix really brought this whole thing to life. Thanks so much for all your help.

I got this van and I felt so excited about this thought of being able to go anywhere by myself and escape from anything. I wanted to film my first road trip so that I had something I could share with my family to show them everywhere I was going. My focus was always about the places I wanted to go and capturing the nicest looking shots without the thought of really taking in what I was doing. The more time I spent in the van by myself the more I realized that I wasn’t really enjoying the travelling. The curiosity of living in the van faded and I felt like I was just using it to run away from things.

I kept filming everything and my focus shifted from the places that I was visiting, to the people that I was visiting. I was capturing these moments with people I cared about instead of going to look for a cool road or mountain. I feel like it brought me the closest I’ve ever been with my friends, family, and myself. I’m really grateful for all the people that were part of this trip in someway as it was a path that I didn’t know was there. This van holds some tough moments but also some of my favourite memories with really special people. @ollieraps your song was an absolute perfect soundtrack for this and I really appreciate you letting me use it. And man, thank you for all the conversations we had about this project and just creating in general. I honestly don’t think it would have ever finished without your help and it means a lot.

Anyways there’s a link in my bio if you’re curious. I’m excited to now have this to look back at.
