An evening that felt like golden hour poured into a glass.

At the launch of @deanstonmalt Orange Wine Cask, Master Blender @julieann_whisky shared the story behind one of her most personal creations: a whisky shaped not only by cask and craft, but by memory, heritage and the warmth of Andalucía. She spoke of long family lunches in Spain, of orange trees surrounding the table, of the scent of peel, marmalade and sun-warmed citrus becoming part of who she is.

Those memories are now carried through Deanston’s Highland single malt, finished in Vino de Naranja casks from Andalucía. What made the evening so beautiful was hearing how this release brings together Scotland and Spain in such an intimate way; Deanston’s waxy orchard fruit and honeyed character meeting the richness of orange wine, citrus oil and bittersweet marmalade.

It was more than a tasting. It was a story of roots, family, place and the kind of flavours that can take you back to a table, a season, a childhood. A reminder that whisky, at its best, holds memory.
