My first riso animation! I may be having too much fun with the risograph, just look at all those vibrant colors~ It combines my love for screen printing and grainy textures all in a cute little machine. This animation was originally created in @cavalry.app (swipe for digital version) as part of a speculative brand identity on the possibilities of nuclear fusion.

Printed on a Riso RZ1090 in four layers with Yellow, Fluorescent Pink, Red, and Black inks on 70lb Text French Pop-Tone Paper in Whip Cream.

Excited to share my first ever project on the letterpress, a six layer reduction print that was printed on the vandercook! (Layer breakdown on the 4th slide.) The name of the flower species is debossed in Garamond with 24pt and 14pt metal type.

The whole process has definitely grown my appreciation for the art of printmaking and letterpress, as well as the time needed and the care to set individual pieces of type by hand. Unfortunately, I do not have anymore of these prints, but I do plan to continue exploring flowers and botanical forms in the future, so this is hopefully not the end~

For the three years that I’ve been studying design at my school, there has never been an active graphic design club. As I’m getting closer and closer to graduation, I’m realizing it’s now or never to start the club that I’ve always hoped to have—a space for graphic design students to get together, learn from each other, and most importantly, just have fun.

These posters are the result of a whole day spent printing in the studio, as well as getting carried away and printing on anything I could get my hands on, from paper towels to newspaper scraps. The poster also features the exceedingly beautiful Romie, designed by @margot.leveque @margotlevequestudio

Hopefully this is just the beginning for the @baddesignclub
