Rarely does Congress actually get something done on a bipartisan basis these days. Proud to work with my committee colleagues, both Republican and Democratic, to pass the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act—a package that included four of my bills—to accelerate housing construction and reduce costs. The bill now moves to the Senate.

Today’s @kcstreetcar Riverfront extension grand opening is more than a transit milestone, it’s the realization of a vision for a more connected, accessible, and vibrant Kansas City.

Since my time as a councilmember, I believed our riverfront could become a place where community, opportunity, and culture come together. Today, seeing visitors and Kansas Citians connected from the Plaza to the river reminds us what’s possible when we invest in people and in our city’s future.

Proud to celebrate this moment for Kansas City. 🚊

During my time with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation this Spring, I had the distinct honor of interviewing my hometown representative, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II.

It was a privilege to sit down with a leader who has dedicated his life to service and to hear firsthand about his journey and his vision. Congressman Cleaver has always been an inspiration, and getting to glimpse his life in Washington, D.C., was a full-circle moment I won't forget.

Come with me as we take a look at the life and legacy of a true champion for my community!

Public safety starts with strong communities.

Yesterday, I was proud to present a $1,031,000 federal investment to Mattie Rhodes Center to support community-based violence intervention and prevention efforts across #MO05.

This funding is about investing in people and empowering trusted local organizations to keep our communities safe.

Higher costs. Healthcare at risk. Another disastrous war in the Middle East.

And what is the priority of Republicans in Congress?

Giving ICE and CBP another $70B blank check with no accountability.

@housedemocrats are fighting for policies that actually help families in #MO05 and across the nation.

It was great to celebrate the urban farmers and local producers who keep our communities fed, connected, and thriving at the 3rd annual KC Farmers Market Passport launch.

At a time when the Trump administration and Republicans are cutting support for urban agriculture and undermining SNAP, we must keep fighting for policies that invest in food access, local economies, and community health.

The Supreme Court’s latest decision weakens key protections in the Voting Rights Act that have helped ensure every American has an equal voice at the ballot box.

At Friday’s Urban Summit meeting, I reaffirmed that in this moment, Congress must continue the work to protect access to the vote and uphold the integrity of our democracy.

It was an honor to join Friday’s ribbon cutting for the @boonetheater in the historic 18th & Vine District — a cornerstone of Kansas City’s cultural legacy.

This moment reflects years of work and a long-term vision to reinvest in this iconic part of our community, honor its history, and build a vibrant future rooted in opportunity, arts, and local pride.

I believe Congress can do better than today’s legislation, and it is my hope that the Senate will work together to craft a truly bipartisan and comprehensive Farm Bill that provides meaningful relief to Americans who desperately need it.

When that occurs, I look forward to supporting the final package.

Today’s appalling decision by the Supreme Court to unilaterally gut the Voting Rights Act is not only wrong—it is deeply disrespectful of the generations of African Americans and civil rights advocates who gave their freedom, their blood, and even their lives to make it possible.

As hardworking families struggle to keep up with rising housing costs, it’s imperative that Congress enact comprehensive housing reforms that will increase supply and drive down prices.

This week, I talked to the National Association of Mortgage Brokers about my work to do just that. Between the Housing for the 21st Century Act and the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, Congress is on the precipice of enacting the most meaningful housing legislation in decades.

We cannot fail to get this done for the American people.

Thankful to the thousands of Missourians in #MO05 who participated in my Tele-Town Hall last night.

Whether it is ending the costly war in Iran or passing my bipartisan housing bill through Congress, I will continue fighting to lower costs and improve the lives of families across our district.
