A couple weeks back we ran across a poignant op-ed in @bonappetitmag by @goodfriendsgoodfood @maryamandcompany that asks an important question…one that we asked ourselves when we we’re first starting our wine and hospitality journey. And then we came up with an answer…

Localism has always been our thing. Pride and care for our little corner of the world and the people, places, and things that make it what it is. From @westsidewinos to Offhand we set an intention to rep and support our local wine scene. With the exception of Mexico, we only pour domestically made low intervention wines, with a logical focus on the West and Pacific Northwest coast. Our program allows us to participate in and support an ecosystem of small producers and distributors/wine professionals, regions etc., all while building community and connection in the process. Equally important, it helps to reduce waste and minimize our carbon footprint. As a result I’ve been spinning at Offhand on a monthly basis for my entire 40s so far and, two years in, I’m even more grateful to Justin, @teronstevenson and @dizgibraltar — and the brilliant staffers that put up with me once a month — for the hospitality, the taste (musical and culinary) and the fun.
I’ll be there this 5/14, 2nd Thursday of the month as usual.
