This Friday, Mo van der Does (@movanderdoes) will present his REFLEX assignment, together with his seven-piece Motet.

We spoke with Mo about the new music. See you Friday for the ensemble carrying "the power of a big band, but the flexibility of a small ensemble”. With Jessie Brevé, Alistair Payne, Matthias van den Brande, Floris Kappeyne, Tijs Klaassen and Wouter Kühne.

I tried to capture the feeling and atmosphere of this film where beauty, serenity and mystery co-exist next to haunting and gruesome cruelties. On the sixth terrace gluttonous souls are purged of living with too much emphasis on food, drink, and bodily comforts. In a scene reminiscent of the punishment of Tantalus, they are starved in the presence of trees whose fruit is forever out of reach.
