Two teams. One city. Nobody agrees on whose it is.
The rivalry between the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC has been contentious since day one (when NYCFC became a club in 2015).
A little over a decade later, we wanted to know if these two clubs still had the passion for it.
So we sent @markmcposts to the Red Bulls’ home stadium in New Jersey to watch them take on NYCFC in the Hudson River Derby and find out where the rivalry stands

Is it possible to just walk to MetLife Stadium from New York City?
Now that the usually $13 train ticket has been hiked up to $105 for the World Cup, a lot of fans have been wondering just that.
To find out, we sent the intrepid @markmcposts on a scenic hike to New Jersey to see if America’s pedestrian infrastructure is up to the task.
What he found was a challenging but occasionally scenic 4.5 hour walk that ended with blocked off pedestrian routes that would stop even the most adventurous European hiker from getting to the stadium during the World Cup.
There are tense matches – and then there’s the possibility of the US and Iran facing each other in this summer’s World Cup. The two sides could potentially meet in the round of 32 in Dallas, the day before July 4th.
With a month to go before the tournament even starts, there’s already been plenty of political maneuvering, requests to move stadiums, and barely veiled threats.
Just recently, US secretary of state Marco Rubio indicated that, while Iran’s players will be welcome, anyone accompanying them with links to Iran’s military will be denied entry.
Here’s @markmcposts with what you need to know as both teams, as it stands, head to the World Cup.

What do you think is a fair price for a World Cup ticket?
If you said $11,000, then you might love what Fifa has introduced at the 2026 World Cup: dynamic pricing.
As a result of the change, the average ticket price is now three times what it was at Qatar 2022.
“The employment of dynamic ticket pricing ... starkly contrasts with Fifa’s core mission to promote the accessible and inclusive promotion and development of soccer globally,” 69 Democratic lawmakers wrote in a letter to Fifa’s president, Gianni Infantino, last month.
To be fair to Fifa, they did release 1,000 $60 tickets for the final. But if you weren’t able to get one of these, your best hope is to wait for the price of resale tickets to drop as the tournament nears.
Could this be the most American World Cup ever? With Fifa in charge, ad-solutely.
As well as blessing fans with dynamic pricing for tickets, Fifa is also introducing hydration breaks in the middle of every half.
These breaks aren’t new – they’ve been used many times before in Fifa tournaments when conditions have become too hot. But what is new this time is that they’re mandatory across all games, regardless of the temperature.
As the Guardian’s Barry Glendenning wryly noted in March, “while this diktat … was obviously based on nothing other than player welfare, some cynics observed that these three-minute breaks would ostensibly turn football into a game of four quarters. As luck would have it, they would also present Fifa with an additional 208 guaranteed advertising slots from which to hoover up even more revenue.”
