Massive thanks & congratulations to everyone who submitted work for the bi-monthly AARDMAN ACADEMY ALUMNI CHALLENGE!

The theme this month was to create an animated sequence based on the theme 'DANCE' - using one of the music tracks kindly provided by GOLD TOP PRODUCTION MUSIC. And as always, you guys rose to the challenge with some great work produced from former participants of our on-line Foundations, SM1 & SM2 courses & more!
We were honoured to have as our guest 'Judge' the brilliant award-winning Director, MERLIN CROSSINGHAM who gave our selected film makers some brilliant feedback. Thank you Merlin for your comments, encouragement & support - it is greatly appreciated.

All submitted challenge films were screened on-line & in our Cinema at Gas Ferry Road studios on Friday night & now for your viewing pleasure... I present the submitted films - this one produced by FREE VERHOEVEN.

This animation was an assignment for Kaboom festival last year in the Netherlands to celebrate the theme of belonging. Together with 17 other artists from around the world, I was so lucky my animation got selected for the animated poster exhibition: Welcome home in Utrecht at “Het Stadskantoor” and was visible in the Home, a sense of belonging exhibition in Amsterdam at Het Meterhuis.

After almost three years, I decided to put my final project from the Aardman Academy SM2 course online! Well, better late than never... 🤭

When I look back and see where I am now and what great opportunities it got me. I am truly grateful! I will never forget the amazing journey I had together with a lot of people who I can now call friends.🌟

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me if she could film a portrait of me and my work for a short item in a Dutch language Belgian television show called: "Iedereen beroemd." Without hesitation, but nevertheless with a splash of fear, I said yes, and suddenly I was the subject of my own little tv story...

The result? An amazing experience and an over-the-moon me who's above and beyond grateful for this piece. I could not have captured the process of stop motion more beautifully.
