Introducing “Janella”: a short film focused on Los Angeles-based football freestyler Janella Hernandez (@janellafstyle), created by @whereisfootball in association with @re__inc.

Directed by @brianchorski, “Janella” follows a day in the life of Hernandez as she’s moving through her neighborhood of Koreatown and nearby go-to spots, speaking about her driving ethos of women empowerment and her love for her city, and showcasing her expressive freestyle football skills while repping Guatemala everywhere she goes. 🇬🇹📍🌐

As a proud member of the United Nations Football For The Goals initiative, Where Is Football created “Janella” in association with @re__inc and in celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

Janella Hernandez has created a lane for herself through her intentional, creative style in how she plays, dresses, and generally approaches her life, gaining mass awareness and inspiring women everywhere through her self-shot freestyle videos… and just being Janella. 🏆✨

Last year I had the pleasure of partnering with @nikefootball and helping craft the concepting, strategy, and creative development for the campaign celebrating @brasil’s star winger @ViniJr and his first ever signature boot. 🇧🇷

As Vini said yesterday, “racists are, first and foremost, cowards.” And no matter what and who tries to bring Vini down, he continues to silence the haters and enjoy the flight as his career ascends higher.

Vini’s boot nodded to both his playstyle and his path that took him from São Gonçalo to Flamengo to Madrid to A Seleção, so naturally we created a signature airline representing those who play with a smile, and it’s going to be special to watch him lead Brazil higher as they search for the 6th star at the World Cup stateside. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kylian since the 2018 World Cup, and it was special to watch him hit his stride at his first season at the club of his childhood dreams. From learning Spanish at a young age watching his idol be the star in Madrid to becoming Europe’s golden boot winner wearing his signature Mercurials, some dreams just can’t be slept on. We chose to gravitate around a simple, relatable truth that so much of what drives Kylian as one of the best in the world is his ongoing relationship with his inner child pushing him to realize the potential he saw within himself, always trusting his inner child to let him keep dreaming.
