Welp… the MRI confirms that my disk is bulging into my sciatic nerve and causing the last few weeks of unbelievable pain. This is only the second time in my life that I’ve had something hurt this bad for this long and the first time was when I broke a bone in my neck. In some ways, this is even harder because at least I could walk around with that injury but this one has made moving very challenging. Amy has helped me so much and even tho she questions whether I’m getting better, I know I’m improving and I’m gonna come back stronger than ever before once this nerve calms the fug down. Any and all good vibes y’all can send my way are greatly appreciated in the meantime. XO 💚🦎

Last Friday, I rode the Verdugos with @aldrichvillanueva - off the top, I led the descent and a minute in, I ate it.

One of my hardest slams in 35+ years of riding. Tore off so much skin the doc said it looked like a burn. Needed antibiotics and six stitches in my forearm.

It could’ve been worse—no broken bones, no head injury, no cliff dive. I’m grateful for that and for Aldrich, who stayed calm and had a solid med kit ready. Total legend.

What went wrong? Overconfidence beat out caution. We need swagger to shred—but it can’t override safety. Grateful I could get back on and rip the rest of the mountain!

Crazy part? A while back, he crashed and told me my med kit inspired him to build his own. Full circle: he ended up using it on me.

Takeaway: Carry supplies and know how to use them. Stay calm and ride on.
