This Grammy nomination didn’t come from chasing clout, buying looks, or forcing my way into rooms. It came from consistency. From moving with intention when nobody was watching. From staying committed to the long game.

I wasn’t the one in front of the camera. But I played my role.. quietly, powerfully, and without needing applause. And now, the Recording Academy recognizes that.

Knowing an artist so well that you can hear them on a record before they touch it. Knowing what emotions trigger them creatively. Knowing what type of pockets they naturally attack. Knowing when a record feels like “them.”

When we were working on “Red Rum”, I remember saying “I can hear Chris on this” while the record was still being built. Nobody told me that. There was no placement yet. I just heard the vision early.

I’ve been thinking about the people who carried me with love, the ones who supported me, prayed for me, believed in me, checked on me, and stood beside me through every season. I’ve also been thinking about the new souls I’ve met along this journey, the unexpected connections, the people God places in your path at the right time for a reason. None of that is small to me. None of it is lost on me.

At the same time, my heart is with the ones no longer here. The loved ones we miss. The voices we wish we could hear one more time. The seats that sit different now. The prayers whispered for those who passed, and for the friends I know carrying grief through this month while trying to stay strong. I see that pain. I honor it.

I’m also thinking about our elders, the ones who poured so much into us and are too often left in the background of a world addicted to what’s new. And the people in need, the forgotten, the overlooked, the ones fighting silent battles with dignity. This season should soften us enough to remember that our blessings were never meant to stop at us.

This month always does something to the soul. It strips the noise away and leaves you standing face to face with what really matters… faith, discipline, mercy, gratitude, and the quiet work of becoming better from the inside out.

I’ve been thinking about the people who carried me with love, the ones who supported me, prayed for me, believed in me, checked on me, and stood beside me through every season. I’ve also been thinking about the new souls I’ve met along this journey, the unexpected connections, the people God places in your path at the right time for a reason. None of that is small to me. None of it is lost on me.

At the same time, my heart is with the ones no longer here. The loved ones we miss. The voices we wish we could hear one more time. The seats that sit different now. The prayers whispered for those who passed, and for the friends I know carrying grief through this month while trying to stay strong. I see that pain. I honor it.
