The performance of maryland and rivermoans is, above all, an encounter, where the expressions of both grow and intertwine, constantly evolving. The duo shapes an intimate vocal and sonic landscape, where stories of love, exhaustion, and rootlessness take form. For this special occasion, they invite close friends, singers from Lada folklore ensemble and musician Josef Hradilek (@duklavinohrady , Jo Mama) on cello, to expand the space into one of sharing, mutual listening and a layered reflection of experiences and emotion.

rivermoans is a Prague-based musician with roots in choral and sacred musics, which she renders through an experimental vocal approach. She writes songs with layered vocal maps and strong poetic-political contexts, connecting mythical imagery, love, and ways to observe life. Operating at the intersection of composition and performance, she creates fluid forms in which poetry, voice, and sound interlace in an intimate encounter. The pieces presented with maryland open themes of exhaustion, critiquing the conditions of labor within a multi-shift work regime.
