Meet Leigh, one of the designers behind our MP3 Studio team.

Rooted in timeless design and shaped by a belief that homes should feel storied, personal, and deeply livable, her approach blends classic principles with thoughtful curation and collected details. ✨

We asked her about the details, principles, and perspective behind the spaces she creates.

Q. What’s one design detail you believe instantly elevates a space—but most people overlook?

A. A thoughtfully chosen piece of art. Art has the ability to give a room soul, it creates emotion, adds depth, and makes a space feel personal rather than simply decorated. I think people often focus first on furnishings, but a beautiful piece of art can completely transform how a room feels. It’s often the detail that brings sophistication, character, and a sense of permanence to a home.

Q. How would you describe your personal design language in three words—and how does it show up in your work?

A. Classic, curated, and collected.

I’m deeply inspired by classic architecture and timeless design principles, but I never want a home to feel overly formal or predictable. I approach each project with a curated eye. I love layering finishes, furnishings, textiles, and antiques in a way that feels intentional yet effortless. The “collected” aspect is especially important to me; I believe the most beautiful homes reflect the lives of the people who live in them. A home should feel storied, personal, and interesting while still being comfortable enough to truly live in.

Q. What’s the one piece or element you always build a room around?

A. For me, the foundation of great design is the balance of form and function; one should never exist without the other. I typically begin with something that feels inspiring or meaningful, whether it’s an extraordinary fabric, a striking piece of art, or an object that resonates personally with the client. That initial element becomes the thread that guides the rest of the room. When a space is built from something authentic and layered thoughtfully over time, it feels both elevated and deeply personal.

Q. What’s one piece every client should have right now?

A. The perfect black suit — it can take you anywhere.

Q. What style rule do you love breaking?

A. There’s no such thing as being overdressed… unless you’re a salad.

Q. What instantly signals great style to you?

A. When I know someone is walking into a room and I can’t wait to see what they’re wearing.

A. Finish continuity — the details that make a space feel intentional.

Q. How would you describe your design language?
A. Intentional. Layered. Livable.

Q. Which designer inspires you most?
A. Kit Kemp for her storytelling through pattern and color.

Driven by detail, emotion, and the unexpected, her approach to interiors is centered around how people truly experience a space.

We asked what defines great design and what most people overlook.

Q. What’s one design detail you believe instantly elevates a space, but most people overlook?

A. Lighting! Not only the show-stopping lighting fixtures, but also the detailed lighting accents. Architectural lighting, while it’s not sexy, will strongly affect how people experience a space. Fixtures like under-cabinet lighting, art lighting, and stair tread lighting, while not visually interesting when off, significantly impact how people live in and experience a space.

Q. How would you describe your personal design language in three words, and how does it show up in your work?

A. Detailed, personalized, and surprising. I love creating spaces that are unique in how people experience their surroundings. I note details about clients’ day-to-day lives and how design can positively impact their routines. I also love implementing materials or furniture that are out of the ordinary. Creating that moment of surprise while maintaining the integrity of the overall design.

Q. What’s the one piece or element you always build a room around?

A. I create spaces that are emotion based. Focusing on how people want to feel while experiencing their environment.

Q. Which designer lives rent-free in your mind, and why?

A. Johnathan Adler. His use of color and unexpected design elements inspires me to push the boundaries of what is possible.
