I know I’m late to the game, but I recently added a Sony FX30 to my kit—and it’s been a game changer.
I shot a commercial at the top of the year on it due to client specifications and it honestly blew my mind. As a former FX6 owner and a current Alexa Mini owner, I have some thoughts:

• I’m getting that same versatile look the FX6 gave me, and it’s a perfect match for the Alexa as a B-cam/Gimbal-cam. Plus not every production needs to be shot on a big camera!

• That Super35 sensor matches my Alexa mini’s sensor.

• For my travel jobs, I can just throw this in a small Pelican and never worry about checking a bag.

• It fits into the workflow on bigger sets (monitoring, pulling focus, etc)
